Recommended pump

What is everyone using and not using for pumps I’m trying to make an educated decision but am totally confused as to what I should buy.

Please ad your comments as I’m a newby to this and injections are just not cutting it this moment.

I have an ErecAid Esteem manual VED. It works well for me. I don't have any experience with any other medical grade VEDs so I can't actually compare any.

I'm assuming you are referring to medical grade VED's.
I have an Encore deluxe that has both manual anf electric pumps.
Also have an older model Pos-T-Vac manual pump.

The Pos-T-Vac is relegated to back up. Of the 2 I much prefer the Encore. For around $125 you get both a manual and an electric pump and I like the method they use to put the ring on the dick when pumped. I find it much easier than having to manually slide the ring off.

Hi, I use the Soma unit, found it to do all that is required, you can get 4 different sizes of cylinders, so you can find the one that suits you best, it as a built in presure release so you can't over pump, so they say, the 4 cylinders tale upto a 8 inch long and 8 inch girth.

I actually prefer the pump over injections. Yes it's mechanical but you can control the ordeal. With the "Prick".....I ain't into the prick thing yet. Plus what I am reading, you could end up in ER, if not careful. Only negative side to the pump, you are limited by your time in the "Honey Hole". They recommend using the pump for only 30 minutes. And we all know 30 minutes ain't enough time to lay pipe.

I HIGHLY recommend a pump with a gauge. Not necessary, but nice to have. The medical-grade VEDs may be made of better materials or more robust design, but a vacuum is a vacuum. I used a vacuum cleaner hose (not a good idea - the vacuum on MY vacuum cleaner was barely adequate and the motor began to overheat from lack of cooling air flow too quickly) for a short time before I got one prescribed for me.

The Veteran's Administration provided. I could not have afforded to buy the thing myself. Some of the medical grade pumps are $500, but many are around $125 or so.

BUT

A decent manual pump can be assembled of parts easily available at an automobile parts store. There was a thread mentioning that (with specific part numbers, too) a while back.

I am fairly certain that medical grade pumps are vacuum limited. I remember reading something to that effect on a medical web site. I do recall the discussion did conclude the max vacuum possible was much higher than needed.
To be FDA approved doesn't a medical device have to conform to some safety regulations?

My personal experience is that is much easier to reach an uncomfortable amount of vacuum with my sex shop vacuum pump than it is with my VED.

+1 for the battery powered Encore Impo-Aid. I have several sizes of their elastic rings. It helps if I keep my pubes trimmed down so as to facilitate a tight vacuum seal when pumping. It does not have a vacuum gauge, but by experience I know about (can feel) the right amount of vacuum. I often leave a ring on for over 30 minutes, then off for about five minutes, then re-pump. Have been using this brand for over ten years now.
