Hello all. It's been 5 months since surgery and I thought I'd post an update.

I'm totally pain free and have been for some time. There was still some pain from squeezing at about 2 months, but it slowly went away. Made using the implant less enjoyable for a while, but not too bad.

Now, this thing is just a part of me - a terrific, enjoyable part. If I don't think about it, I forget entirely that it's there, so that's good. If I concentrate on it, I just feel bigger and heavier and more "male", so that's even better.

It works for everything I want it to. Feels better than I ever imagined it would feel. I still get aroused, and there is even a small amount of "lift" when that happens. With arousal I also have some engorgement of the head, though not a lot.

I've found, as others have posted, that it actually feels better to use when not inflated totally to the max. Backing off 10% or so is best, both for sex and solo.

My size has gotten a little better over time. My dick was especially thin after the surgery. I'll never be huge, but I'm better now than in a very long time. Girth is just right for me. Length has gotten just a tiny bit better. I was very good at pumping up twice a day for a couple months, but then just let it fade away a little. Now I'm back at it regularly again. Probably shouldn't have stopped, but I'll let you know in a few months if starting again helps.

Flaccid, I don't hang quite right, but I also don't look like I'm aroused, so it's fine. I feel bigger, overall, and sometimes find the implant knocking against something or feeling stiffer than a normal penis when I roll over in bed. But that's nothing to worry about, and reminds me that I'm bigger and stiffer.

I'm a very happy, satisfied, implantee. Looking back on it, I think I agonized too much for too long. For me, it was the right decision and I'm glad I made it. Like many, I wish I'd done it much sooner. Let me know if you have any questions.

I am so glad to hear that you are doing much better. Nobody can possibly the anguish we go through with ED and the relief and masculinity we get back after the implant healing period is over.

Hello all. It's been a year since I started this journal. Everything has been going well for a long time, so I haven't updated the journal it a while. I just wanted to give a one year update.

For me, the implant has been wildly successful. Here are a few thoughts about why I feel this way, in no particular order:

1. It feels *right*. Yes, it's a little different than it was before, but I am amazed at how good it feels. A main worry before the surgery was how it would feel. I figured it would function, but with all the tissues removed, the major trauma my penis went through, and mechanical parts inside, would I lose some of the feelings that make sex so enjoyable. Turns out I was worried about nothing. It's been a very long time since I had normal, natural erections, so perhaps I don't remember correctly, but how it feels now is simply terrific and to me seems at least as good as it was before. Climax during sex takes perhaps a little longer than before for some reason, but that's not a negative for my particular situation.

2. I'm bigger in both length and girth than i remember. Flaccid, for sure, as the years of atrophy had left me extremely small, but even erect I feel bigger than I've ever felt. Again, I may not remember well after so many years of ED, but I was always a little embarrassed by my size. Not anymore. I'm not "hung" by any means, but I feel bigger, more confident, and never embarrassed. I've grown about 3/4 inch since the surgery in length. I've never measured girth, but it feels bigger than ever.

3. The pain and hassle was minimal for the gain. As I've said before, I chose a minimally invasive infrapubic surgery and found a surgeon who gave me confidence. It's possible I'd have had a great experience with a local surgeon, but who knows. I just know that the pain was very manageable (being naked a lot in the first weeks and whenever inflated for the first months helped a lot) and the result was well worth it. I recovered quickly, activated at one week, was cleared for sex at 3 week (but it was still too tender for another couple weeks to enjoy). There was obviously some risk, and with my diabetes I was deeply concerned about possible infection, another reason I wanted to do "minimally invasive". I'm very happy with my choice, but I can understand that others have also had great results and experiences.

4. The implant works just like it should, and for as long as I want. Sessions can be short, long, or very long. I never lose an erection unless I want to. My intimate relationship with my wife is better than it's been in decades, though as we've aged her interest has lessened. I wish I'd have done the implant about 15 years earlier, and I realize I wasted some years where the enjoyment could have been much higher.

5. The process was interesting and a journey of discovery. I've never had any surgery before. It was interesting to experience surgery in a positive way while knowing it would lead to better living. In addition, I've learned quite a bit about myself, my tolerances, my needs, and my proclivities. I've also found some great friends here at FrankTalk, men who will probably be good friends for the rest of my life. Strange to have found this on a "dick" board. I've received tons of great help and advice and I've been able to help others, as well.

People here regularly ask if there are any negatives, and of course there are. The risk, pain, and recovery are part of it, but, as I said, worth it for me. The only real negative I think of is that erections are always mechanical rather than natural. I miss the feelings of getting erect during arousal rather than needing to inflate. Like others, I sometimes choose to mimic the arousal of foreplay by inflating a little at a time, but it's still not the same. There's no morning wood unless I plan for it (or forget to deflate). Small negative on balance.

I'm still trying to inflate twice a day, but often don't make the effort. Once almost every day, though, often 2, and sometimes 3. I spent a couple of months where I didn't inflate much and probably set back potential growth a little, but I'm very happy with where I'm at.

I give a hearty thank you to all of those who have gone before and given us such great information here. I hope that everyone who gets an implant has as positive an experience and the satisfaction and that I have had.

I’m type 1 diabetic and have had progressive Ed for 5-7 years. Pills worked for a while and then started with a vacuum pump for an erection. Hard as a brick for a while but softer and softer with time and it kills the mood! Asked my wife what she thought about an implant, she replied with it seems like the next step. I’m scheduled for surgery on July 24 and this is a great post at least for me! Thank you so much!!!!!

Congratulations trlewis! I hope you have a great experience. There's a lot to know before you go into surgery, like how often to use a VED and how, what to take with you to the hospital, what underwear works best during recovery, etc. There are a lot of threads in this section of the board that can help.
