Urolift procedure for BPH on an implant patient?
Urolift procedure for BPH on an implant patient?
Anyone out there with an implant having to urinate often? I seem to be waking up 2 or 3 times a night having to urinate. About every 2 hours or less. I had the Green Lite Laser for the same symptoms 9 years ago. This procedure destroys some of the tissue from your prostrate, and causes retrograde ejaculation, meaning your come no longer comes from your penis. It goes back into your body to be absorbed. This helped at the time, but now seems to be back again. Thinking about the Urolift procedure as you don’t lose any tissue from your prostrate. Just in the last few years I’ve been able to produce a small of come again from my penis. I never liked the fact that your come from ejaculation was reversed back into your body. Just not sure if I would be a candidate due to my recent implant. Anyone out there familiar with getting the Urolift that also has a implant? Thanks, Bailey

I imagine the urethra would separate from the cylinders shortly after entering the body. If so, I think Uro-lift would work.
Obviously, I don't know where the Urethra separates from the cylinders.

I have a similar urination problem and take Tamsulosin for it.
I was just diagnosed with Gleason 3+3 (6) prostate cancer.
I wonder if I get radiation, it will shrink the prostate?

Re: Urolift procedure for BPH on an implant patient?
I had Urolift a month prior to being implanted. Really glad I did it. I rarely wake up at night. Also urge to pee isn't as strong.
Suffered with ED for most of my life. Viagra then to Trimix then implanted 3/8/2018 with AMX 700 CX 21cm with 1cm RTE. 50 years old Urolift procedure performed 30 day prior to my implant surgery.
Re: Urolift procedure for BPH on an implant patient?
I had the Urolift 18 months ago. It only worked at helping my urine flow for 6 months. My uro admits not all candidates are good candidates, and that was my situation. I do not have an implant but I do inject with trimix. When asked if I want to pursue more options regarding urination I said no. I'd rather take a long time peeing than have retrograde ejaculation.
Married, 66 yrs old, ED for 22 yrs. On TriMix for 5 yrs. Live in the Adirondacks of NY. Would be a nudist if it weren't for the black flies and the short summers.
Re: Urolift procedure for BPH on an implant patient?
Had the urolift procedure about 10 days after getting my implant. No problems then or now nearly three years later. Good luck with your decision.
Implanted Dec 2016 by Dr. Morey, UTSW Dallas. AMS 700. BPH caused problems so Supra Pubic Catheter and Urolift Prostate implants. End results great. Botched implant by Dr. in Waco, TX 2006. After 10 years, went to Dr. Morey who made me whole.
Re: Urolift procedure for BPH on an implant patient?
I just visited a radiologist about my minor prostate cancer.
We decided to take a wait and see attitude.
While there, I saw a model of the urinary track and the urethra does enter the penis at the inmost end.

Bailey, did you ever talk to your uro about the UroLift? I'm doubtful that an implantee would be a candidate unfortunately since it is performed with a straight rigid cystoscope and I'm pretty sure that the implant keeps the urethra in its natural curved shape and would make it near impossible (IMHO) to straighten the urethra enough to get the cystoscope through it. I may be totally wrong though. I scoured the net looking to see if rigid cystoscopy is contraindicated with penile implants and the only thing I was able to find stated that it's not recommended with SEMI-RIGID implants. It may just depend on where the implant cylinders' rear tips are located.
I'm not really sure how they deal with straight rigid cystoscopes when an individual has a penile implant, come to think of it. I got my UroLift implants on 8/12/2019 and my IPP implanted on 10/28/2019.

i had the Urolift procedure back in March of this year. I was a very easy procedure and i was over it in a week. I just got a couple packs of AZO and took after the procedure and urinated a lot to cleanse myself. The procedure was nothing. I highly recommend it to anyone suffering from prostate issues. Best of luck to you!
