Can't make it work

I need help from one of you experienced folks. This forum is new to me but well appreciated. I have ED and nothing helps. I am 68, no illnesses, normal BP, and mentally stable. I have tried vacuum tube with ring's, Viagra when it first came out and it worked at first but now no (100mg) nor Cialis, or Livitra (40mg). I am a veteran so I went to the local medical center and the Urologist set me up with Edex (20). Shown how to use it there using only 25% strength. It didn't work. Was explained maybe the environment to try again at home. Tried again and got sort of a beginning but went flaccid quickly. 4 days later (last night) tried 50% and got the same results. VA said to go in 1/4 increments to the full strength but somehow I feel it's not going to work even though I will go 3/4 next, and full 20 a week later. Has anybody else had no luck with Edex? You are all talking mostly about Trimix...is it better? Does it take so much hit and miss testing before it works? Any ideas would be highly appreciated.

I think I might know what the problem is, when you inject tri to inject at the 10-11 postion or the 1-2 position this helped me alot I was having the same problem until I tried it that way oh and inject close to the base of your penis, let us know how it works,, good luck. tankerman777

Tankerman is right. lot is how you inject. I found that injecting about 1 inch from the base is best for me and injecting at 2 or 10 O clock. From the feedback I get, TrimIx is the best medication to inject. It always work for me for a 2 hour erection using 10 units. Also found that getting yourself aroused a little so your flaccid penis is larger (especially if you tiny when flaccid like me, lol) helps to have a better place to inject. I also massage my penis after injection to work it in better

Thanks for your replies guys, I'll try the 3/4 strength at 11 pos. and 1" from the base in a few days.
After reading all the info supplied here I hesitate to try too soon for fear of getting any type of
problems with my life-long buddy. He gave up on me a while back but I still respect him for his
constant wants.

One or two other pieces of advice. Number one: you can try again after a day or so. No need to wait days to try again.

I've even done back to back shots within 8 hours (evening then morning)... and no difference in duration or hardness ... just 100%. But then again, we are Trained Professionals who have been doing it for years. But a 24 hr apart is fine when you are first trying to zero in on the amount.

One other thing about injecting for me is, I don't JAB it in real quick, I work it in excrutiatingly slow with little light pushes. Does not really hurt any more or less. But you can feel sometimes when you are IN the Corpus C. Also even more importantly,
when you actually press the plunger to inject it should be fairly easy press. If it is hard to press you are not in the CC .. so dimple the syringe right into the skin even deeper and try pressing again and see if it is easier. Always works for me.

Please explain what you mean by 25% and 50% strength. Most of us Trimix users describe dosage in terms of units or ccs. We slowly increase dosage over time until we find the dosage that generates the ideal erection and than slowly reduce the dosage until we still get good results at the lowest needed dose.

I believe a lot of the reason to not inject too often is to reduce scarring from injecting too frequently. In the beginning, I do not think this would be a major issue. However, If you were getting hard erections, I would be advising against injecting too frequently.

This morning I used the remaining Trimix in an old vial which did not generate the desired results so I injected a small amount from my new vial on the other side. Worked great and I had no unusual side effects. However, I will now wait at least 48 hours before I inject again.

Guys, the VA only prescribes Edex first, then maybe other meds if it doesn't work. I was also instructed to inject at the 9 or 3 o'clock position, not the 10-2 o'clock ones. I did ask about that when I went in & they said, no, use the 9-3. Don't know why. They DO recommend increasing the dose in 1/4 increments until you get it to work right. The 10mcg dose of Edex works well for me, but others may need more. Please keep in mind that most of us veterans that depend on the VA can only start out with Edex, not any of the Trimix compounds. He is asking for help based on the use of Edex. Edex is only available in 10, 20, 40mcg doses & the patient is instructed to use only as much in 25%, 50%, etc. increments that work for him. When it is determined that the maximum available dose of Edex will not work, then the VA will move to another medication, but only then. Implants are also a final option, if the medical center you use has access to a penile surgeon. However, you may be referred to another VA medical center that does have this service. Hope that explains it to everyone....

Roma - eveyone here is right, you can inject safely with a 24 hour layover. Don't give up!!! Try again up to your maximum dose! If it still doesn't work, go back to your Uro & discuss additional dosage or other medications; don't let it get you down!! Maybe they will move you up to a different medication. Keep after them until you are satisfied. DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!! At worse, you can get an implant. BUt be very insistant with them.

BTW, where are you located & which VAMC do you go to? I go to Durham, NC & they have been VERY helpful. If you are close enough, you might want to try the Durham VAMC.

There can be a number of resons why injections don't give the desired results and it's journey of exploration to find what is best for you! Don't give up! In my experience the most common reason for failure is poor injection technique. Getting the fluid into the corpus cavernosa is essential for good results. The easiest way to do this is checking that you can draw a little blood into the syringe before injecting the fluid. This will confirm you're in the right spot, if you can't see blood, withdraw a little or insert a little deeper, if that fails try another location. You can be sure that if you can't see blood in the syringe, which is very obvious, you almost certainly won't get the desired result.

Hi gents. Well I've waited a couple of weeks to let everything settle down and tonight I tried it again .
This time I used 75% (of 20 mcg units of Edex) and my penis went from flaccid to maybe 15-20% erect.
I could see it slowly enlarging but then stopped and stayed like that for about 5 min. My last shot is
going to be the full 20 mcg capsule. After reading how a lot of you guys are doing great with just a little
amount makes me wonder how bad off my penis must be. I didn't try reversing the plunger to see if I
get blood (I read it too late) but I'll give it a shot. Thanks for all your advice . By the way I am in the
New England area.

Lexmc Yesterday I injected and like always got a very hard erection lasting almost 2 hours. I tried to do what you said and see if there was blood when I withdraw the needle. There wasn't any even though I must have hit the right spot or my erection would not have been so good.
