New To Pumps
Quick question. I just got a pump today from my DR. If I normally can get 50-70% erect do I really need to practice with it and train my penis? Can I not just get to my normal erection level and pump it from there?
Re: New To Pumps
The more fresh blood you can get to flow into the penis the better. I would get it as big as possible before pumping. Take it slow at first. Pump it up a little for a few minutes then let down and let fresh blood in by stimulating it. Do this several times before placing the constriction ring. If you haven't already, I would trim the pubic hair to less than 1/4". I use one everyday in the shower for therapy because I don't get night time erections at all. Practice makes perfect.
Age 71. Married 52 years. Location Oregon. PCa at age 56. Open RP surgery and radiation treatment. Oral or injection drugs didn't work. Implanted 10/13/20. Titan Narrow Base 18cm with 1cm left and 1.5cm right rear tip extenders.

So I guess I better practice with it before I see my GF Sat. Does erection angle return? Seems like when you pump you are at a 3oclock. My normal full angle is 11:30. Will it pop up there after I take off the pump?

Oh, my. Did you get any training at all with your VED? It sounds like you did not. Please read the information on the pumps treatment page (tabs on the home page).
Using the VED takes a LOT of practice and work. they are GREAT but are not easy. And no, sorry, your erection will not point up.
Just FYI - I make all my guys practice with the VED for two weeks before attempting it for intercourse. Your penis needs to get used to it, you need to become coordinated with it. It is complicated, but worth it.
Did a training video come with your pump? Take a look at it. Let us know if you have questions. Don't go into this date expecting the pump to provide an instant erection.
Sounds like your doctor did not do his job. You should not have left his office without trying it.

Re: New To Pumps
No I didn't get any training. My ED can be summed up like this. I get 50-70% erect so I can get penetration and have an orgasm. More than once a night. The problem is that I am not hard enough for my partners to get any pleasure. So it's good for me bad for her. I have been using a strap on to get her off.
So I tried the pump last night at home. Got to my normal level then just tried to top off with the pump. I have not tried the rings yet. So there is 0 chance with the ring I will get my erection angle back?
With the fact I can already have sex on my own without viagra not mean I can use the pump Sat to top off? Viagra does not help me by the way.
My pump is an erecaid esteem. Unfortunately there is no gauge.

OK. Interesting. If you use the rings that came with the pump, you will definitely get an erection. They may be too strong - or at least stronger than what you need. I would run out to a sex shop and get some good strong rubber cock rings and try those with the pump. Please practice applying the rings - sliding them off the end of the pump onto your penis can be tricky.
Practice with kinds of rings. Start with the largest, or loosest ring that will still maintain your erection.
By the way - you have a really bad doctor. For him to prescribe a pump with no training is ridiculous. I'd find a new one. this shows you how little he knows...and cares.

Re: New To Pumps
I'm wondering if this is a little like my scenario.
I can get similar functionality on my own.
With the pump, even from a limp, "standing start", the VED triggers a partial natural erection.
I read somewhere that pumps work best for "total / almost total ED". One "effect" I found after trying a constriction ring was that as I attempted to masturbate, the ring moved back and forth which felt like it was drawing more (TOO MUCH) blood on the forward stroke into the penis. This made me think that if I had zero natural erection BEHIND the ring, I wouldn't have this effect, and that because of the erection, the ring was able to move over the rigidity underneath both forward and back.
This makes me feel that I too need to experiment with rings somewhere in between "constriction" and "cock ring". Does anyone know if there is such a thing? Might need to find that thread about making your own with inner tubing perhaps.

Can't get a new DR I use the VA . I have tried one of those adjustable loops made out of surgical tubing before without a pump but I must not have gotten the slide tight enough.
Any particular models anybody can recomend? You think the large Standard Tension (obson beige A model) is too much?

Re: New To Pumps
You really just have to experiment. But I'd go to a sex shop and get a collection of inexpensive cock rings. Take a look at this one
http://www.tantusinc.com/catalog/For-Him/SuperSoft-CRing
It is meant to go around the whole package...but it all depends on how big you are. Walk around the sex shop and look at all the rings.
Find one that is a bit smaller than you are. measure your penis's diameter so you know exactly how big you are. Go smaller than that.
The adjustable cock rings are good, but you often need to cinch them tightly.
keep experimenting. and have fun with it.

Re: New To Pumps
Ok so I just tried the big ring. Didn't go so well. I know everybody says 2 weeks to get used to it but I don't have 2wks. I have till Saturday night. This relationship is new (only 3mths old) I am her first partner with ED. I need to produce.
OK so when I pulled off the ring I lost suction with the pump. According to the instructions I can just pump up again leaving the ring in place. I did that and while I was big I was not rock hard by any means. Is a rock hard non bendable erection even possible with a pump?
Is it possible to not lose any size or firmness that you have in the tube if your ring is tight enough? Is there any such thing as getting your ring too far down the shaft?
