To make it worse: I read the Operating Room manual from AMS for the implants again. The 2.0 deduction for the LGX is not a rule nor reccommended practice but rather a practice used by some number of surgeions and acknowledged by AMS. Their primary measurement is fixed on the stay suture line. Now to be even more confusing here is a little data I calculated and wrote up earlier. It might make your head swell.

For the expansion questions , here are some calculations for consideration. The expansion number is based on the AMS specified 18%. The part of the implant cylinder length that is for penis length outside the body is assumed to be 80% (gross estimate using 6-7 cm for in-body part of implant including tail pieces). This allows me to generate this possibly grossly inaccurate but genrally within reason table.
Cylinder Flacid Erect Expansion
12cm 4in 0.85in
15cm 4-3/4in 1.06in
18cm 5-3/4in 1.28in
21cm 6-3/4 1.41in

With the exception of the Cylinder Length and Expansion these numbers are guesses. The expansion is 18% of the cylinder length converted to inches. The flacid length shown is 80% plus or minus of the cylinder length and is just a guess. The flacid length will depend your anatomy, the surgeons preference for how much tail piece to use (0.5 cm increments to 7.5 cm), and the relationship of your anatomy to available cylinder lengths. Please remember that the expansion number is the maximum available from the implant using the AMS factor of 18% and as such may or may not be acheived.

I hope that this will either answer a few questions or provide a spur for additional research. Whichever I am sure that this group will find a way to rise to the occassion.

Hi Buckster,

You should apply to be an AMS sales rep. ;-) You have their sales pitch down cold. If "more natural flaccid and longer when inflated" were the primary considerations when choosing an implant, I would think the LGX would be chosen overwhelmingly. My Dr, who has done thousands of implants (including more than a thousand of LGX/Ultrex and more than a thousand Titan and CX) would not deny there could be some length benefit to the LGX. However, he is pretty adamant that in most cases, the benefit is not very great, and is adamant that there are other considerations that are important.

I am prepared to believe the LGX produces great length benefits over its competitors in a few special cases. If I had thought I was such a case, I might well have opted for the LGX. In general though, based on my reading in this forum and in the Yahoo Penile Implant Group, I think I have read more cases of LGX owners being dissatisfied with their length than I have of Titan or CX owners being dissatisfied. Granted, there are probably more LGX implantees. But, if the LGX produced consistently superior and significant length outcomes, I would think there would be far fewer dissatisfied LGX owners. I'm quite prepared to believe my Dr when he says that for most cases, the difference isn't that great.

I guess my perspective going into surgery is a little different than most of you. Losing length seems to be the main concern. I am one that was never blessed with length in the beginning so I am just thrilled to finally have a penis that will be on call 24/7 to get erect. That in itself will be a major mericle for me. I am almost 53 and have never had that assurance I can not really fathom how that is going to feel. I am thinking that it will be the greatest thing to ever happen to me. Of course we all want to be young hung and full of cum but what good is that if there is no erection? This is going to be a life changing event for me and while I don't want to lose anything what I am going to gain is so much more than an inch of length focus on the big picture here my fellow ED sufferers Jim

Sales rep?? Does that mean I could get a free demo impant.... 8-) ..
I think it really needs to be an individual decision between you and your surgeon. From what I have read it sure seems like the most dissatisfied group are the well hung guys. It definately make sense to go with the Titan if you are larger because of it's rigidity. I'm still on the fence but I'm leaning towards the LGX. Not because it can stretch in length but because it is softer when flacid. I feel that being comfortable the 98% of the time that it's flaccid vs the 2% I need it to be hard is important to me. If I were 7 inches I would likely go with the Titan but I'm just an average (almost) 6 inches. :( . I still have time to do research because I plan to do this next spring.

So I am 5" semi inflated from outerskin measurement. Maybe 5 1/2" against pubic bone but with incision healing I am not that desparate to know. My question for LGX owners is did length/girth size increase much at 6 week full inflation vs semi pumped state I am in now? Just wondering if I will gain much at full inflation.

It's doubtful you are actually inflated very much now ... just enough to keep it straight, so to speak. You will not be fully inflated at your 6 week check-up ... the URO will inflate but it most likely be too painful to get to the fully inflated state. The "tips" are far too tender in the LGX at week 6.

I'm at 13 weeks and the tips are still tender when max pumped ... give it time. The amount you increase is a slow process, but it will happen. A 1" - 1 1/2" increase (flaccid vs erect) is not out of the question ... but you have to work at it (daily pumping, etc.) don't be so fixated on your size, but rather having a working member again.
