Maximum pumps

Postby tbonegas » Wed Mar 25, 2020 7:01 pm

Hi all. Just a quick question. How do I know when the implant is fully pumped up?.
Does the reservoir become empty and the pump not work anymore. ie:can you no longer squeeze the bulb? Thanks guys.
ED since 2010/RP 2016, tried all pills, injections and VED.nothing worked.Implanted 2018, implant removed short while after.

My pump gets so hard that I can tell nothing more can be pumped.
86 years
Inject testosterone weekly.
Implant on 1/22/19 by Dr Avila.
Scrotal, hor. incision just over 1"
18cm AMS 700 CX, 3.5cm RTE 100cc res
Gleason 6 prostate cancer. Monitoring it for now.
Update: On my last biopsies the cancer wasn't found.

I find that even after my bulb gets perceivably too hard to squeeze, that further hard squeezes will result in an increasing almost painful pressure in my penis.

I've gone through the following stages just yesterday while cycling (each time the bulb was squeezed very hard and didn't feel like any fluid moved):
  1. Bulb getting very firm, not sure if anymore fluid is moving but tip of penis lifted a bit more
  2. Bulb is rock hard, penis now feels maxed out - can't possibly take anymore fluid
  3. Bulb is rock hard, penis now starting to get uncomfortable
  4. Bulb is rock hard, penis suddenly starting to hurt a little around the sides
  5. Bulb is rock hard, penis now fully involved in pressure induced pain (not unbearable but not pleasant by any means)

When I finally stopped trying to push impossible amounts of fluid into my already hard implant, it was harder that it has ever been, my wife was even shocked when I showed her. When I deflated it, the pump squealed like it's NEVER squealed before - for a good 15-20 seconds before pressure dropped enough that I had to squeeze the remaining fluid out.

I would think in most cases a surgeon places a reservoir with more capacity than what will fit in your penis. Therefore once you have pumped to the point your penis is full, the bulb becomes too hard to press it more. That said, the point of cycling is to stretch penile tissues. So, after you have pumped to the max, you wait awhile and then you can often get in another pump, or two, or three.
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

I have just counted more than 100 squeezes on bulb. Still haven't got to stage where it has become too hard to squeeze. I must have a reservoir the size of lake Ontario. Anybody else get this?

There are two likely (that I can think of) reasons for squeezes to the pump bulb being felt at the bulb but producing no increased fluid into the implant.

1: The one-way valve that keeps fluid in the implant needs a little bit of flow to set closed. You squeeze, the valve opens to let fluid into the implant. You release the bulb, some fluid back-flows through the valve, closing it.

2: Elasticity in the system. You squeeze the bulb, a bit of the valve mechanism or pump bulb itself stretches, but you feel the movement of the bulb anyway. You release the bulb and everything goes back to the way it was.

In either case, no net flow occurs.

or:

3. A pressure-relief valve lets your squeezed fluid flow just run back to the reservoir.

I did the math on my 15 cm AMS CX.

Assumptions:
  • Max inflation of 18 mm is interior diameter
  • Interior diameter when deflated is zero
  • Front tip is 1 centimeter
  • Rear tip is 4.5 centimeters (confirmed in literature)

Using volume of cylinder equation: V=pi * (R^2) * H (or 3.1415926 * R * R * H)

15 cm cylinder has 5.5 cm of plastic leaving 9.5 cm of expansion (H=9.5 cm)
CX has 18 mm max diameter (D=1.8 cm)
Radius is half diameter (R=D/2 or R=0.9 cm)

V=pi * (0.9*0.9) * 9.5 = 24.174555 cc per cylinder
24.174555 * 2 = 48.34911 or 48.35 cc

My 65 mL reservoir, assuming filled near max, has plenty of saline to accommodate 48.35 cc (mL) of cylinders capacity.

In my case I never feel that pump is hard enough. I could press a lot of times more but I dont feel my tubes still filling after 20 pumps
