There has been a lot of posts about how the cylinder length is measured during the surgery. But very little (if any) about how the doc selects the cylinder width. With Titan it is simple, one size fits all. But AMS has 2 variations of width. As far as I know there is no objective test to determine the appropriate width, so it is up to the doctor to chose. The "easy" answer is that dicks with greater girth get bigger cylinder width and those not so big the more narrow version. But then comes the question of what is "greater girth" if is never measured? What about growers types of penis that at the flaccid state is virtually impossible to predict what would be the full girth size?
Would it make sense to ask the doc to insert wider cylinders; or there are conditions when the wider would not provide any benefits or even be at disadvantage?

From what I could learn from the AMS 700 ??? Operating Room Manual there is only one girth size for the AMS 700 LGX while the CX style comes in to girths the normal CSX type and the smaller CXR that seems to be for smaller than average sizes. If the girth expansion on the cylinders greater than the 18% given for the length expansion on the AMS 700 LGX then the size differences could be covered by device expasnsion.

Most get the 12mm I believe and gets most at least to average or slightly above girth. The dr should measure proximal and distal size.

I guess I am a candidate for 12 mm diameter since I am rather narrow. But since I am a grower and in the flaccid state I am "nothing to be proud of", I am wondering what would happen if the doc tried to insert 18mm under the condition it can fit?
I could be wrong but my understanding is that the corpora cavernosa has only that much of the tissue. And if during the inflation more tissue is taken for girth expansion then less will be leftover for the length expansion (in case of LGX).
Other factor to consider is the dynamic of the LGX cylinder expansion. Does the % of length expansion has to match the % of girth expansion; or those are independent? Can be a case when the cylinder would expand let's say only 5% in girth while 18% in length?

IMO, I would think that cylinder expansion would adjust according to the path of least resistance. Depending on scar tissue and stretch abiblity in both length and girth would determine that. So you could have a higher percentage of expansion in one or the other. I would think that length expansion would be the initial default for expansion and girth somewhat growing with it or after.

I believe the ams700 cylinder starts at 12mm but expands to 18mm.

I just called Titan and the cylinders are different girths according to their lengths, they are as follows:
14cm & 16mm length = 17mm girth
18 cm L = 19mm G
20 cm L = 20mm G
22 cm to 28cm L = 21mm G
Whereas the AMS700, all cylinders are 18mm G

These are, of course, the maximum amount of potential expansion, when fully inflated, without any constraints. Inside your body there are constraints, including the stretch in the caveronsa lining, the stretch in the tunica, among others. My Dr (Eid) who has done thousands of implants including all the models, told me it was rare for any implant to actually expand to the maximum potential inside a person's body. The person's anatomy is normally the constraint.
Also, remember these numbers represent the cylinders only. Your actual measured girth includes not only the cylinders, but also the lining of the cavernosa, any residual erectile tissue not destroyed during implant, the tunica, urethra, spongiosum, arteries, veins, skin, and perhaps other anatomical parts that I don't know enough to name.

Exactly! But at least we have more info on what is in the lineup sizewise. The thing that bothers me is the cylinders come in even cm measurements (ie: 18,20,22,24 etc) I don't see why they can't make 19cm, 21cm, 23cm so the doctor can get as close to your original size as possible.

They make RTE's ("rear tip extenders") to fine tune the sizes. The CX and LGX come in 3cm increments, the Titan in 2cm increments. All can be fine tuned to within (I think) 0.5cm with RTE's. Also, Dr Eid told me he prefers not to use RTE's if possible, and will sometimes actually trim Titans down slightly (from oversized) to get to the exact length.
