After trying PDE-5 and injections and MUSE, I have settled on MUSE as my prefered ED med. But I am floored by the price, so I was wondering if there are less expensive sources than my local pharmacies, or whether there are generics. Alprostadil injection works just fine but I prefer the pellet to the needle; cost considerations are important and I could go either way.
Personal info: age=72. In great health, active in racquet sports, cycling, hiking, swimming, etc. ED could be a result of use of gabapentin for control of a seizure condition. Other ED meds, including PDE-5s, increase risk of seizures so I am off of them. I'm not ready the for the pump or for implants.

Re: MUSE sources USA
Thomas,
Yes, sticker shock for sure if you have no insurance that picks up the majority of the cost.
My medco plan picks up most of the nearly $300 cost for a 6-pack. It was $90 for three six packs last year. I am about to renew and will see what the new price is.
I don't know why it costs so much. Maybe exclusive patent rights? -- same way Viagra shakes down innocent users with exhorbitant prices per pill.

Re: MUSE sources USA
Here is some bad news re: Insurance for ALL ED drugs, including MUSE: It is a big shock to learn that when you retire and go off of your employer's plan, you can't get insurance coverage for ED drugs because Medicare part D EXCLUDES coverage for ED. Lesson: your retirement budget needs to be increased if you plan to be sexually active; this could lead you to keep working instead of retiring.

Re: MUSE sources USA
I shopped for Muse 500mg six pack, at Walgreens and CVS, found that $325 was the price. My doc had given me a discount card from the maker which reduced the cost to $194.
I did a google search and found a non-USA website which had the same $195 price.
I also searched for the patent expiry date of MUSE. The site [I think it was drugs.com, said that the patent was expiring December 14, 2012. I also heard that Viagra patent was expiring in 2013. Maybe there is some hope that competition will take over and drive prices of ED meds down???

Teo,
Once you see how the 500mcg works (not enough or just right or too much) drop me a PM and
I can show you how to use a 1000mcg MUSE prescription and then turn it into 2 or 3 urethral splooshes that might get the job done. (Hey you can maybe buy Trimix Gel instead (up to 1500mcg strength) for $150 for the same 6 urethral injects -- save some money if it works ).
I take a 1000mcg MUSE and turn it into 4 (@250mcg) splooshes (so 24 total). Not nearly as good as a Trimix shot but I only use it nightly for a really good chub ( or sometimes it does go fully rock hard even at that low dose) for rehab and as something for the Missus to hang onto while she sleeps. Could be an answer to the high price and meager 6 injectors that you get for your 200 dollars maybe turning it into 12 uses instead of 6. And diluting a 1000mcg pellet makes it pretty painless to use (although I don't use it full strength so it is not exactly apples to apples comparison).
