Swelling from the implant

Postby SteveTex » Fri Sep 28, 2012 5:54 pm

I'm now >48 hours post-op and the pain has been surpisingly minimal. However, the swelling has been major. It seems to keep expanding and now looks like a huge black gourd. I know swelling is to be expected, but when will it level off and even start to go back down? Does the swelling,in and of itself. present any risk?

Today I took the dressing off, took a full shower, soaked my nuts in a warm bath and redressed the incision. That felt really good! :D

It got worse overnight. Now it looks like a black & blue gourd AND a weenie in a bun. Totally grotesque! I can't get to Doc until Monday. Tried ice and ibuprofen to now avail.

No pain and no fever. Should I be concerned?

NO. No concerns. Mine was done on Sept. 11...it got worse and worse for the first three days.....I swore that something was wrong.....but then, it leveled out and I am not 17 days post op and it's all the right color and 95% swelling is gone. YOu will be fine. Hang in there.

Thanks. Your reply was comforting. I have one additional problem in that I had the AUS implant two years ago. That bulb is in my other testicle and finding it is difficilt with the swelling. I'm keeping ice on that side hoping to keep it forn swelling further.

To control swelling put ice packs on as much surface as possible. This helped me more than anything. The more ice you can apply the better. I used these 4x8x .75 blue jel ice packs.

My doc told me to use ice and to also roll up a hand towel and put it under my scrotum to keep it elevated. Gravity does wonders to help fluid from accumulating down there. It really helped as long as I was flat on my back or sitting in the recliner all the way back. Good thing is the soreness starts to go away after about a week and starts getting back to normal size and color after about two. Be sure to dry off completely after your showers. Good luck and take it easy.
