Sorry to hear about the failure to implant. I am one of the double implanties like steve tex. However, I had both implants done at once. I figured since either would require a similiar recovery period, just go for both. In your case it is a little surprising to me that your uro didn't find out that you were that restricted, a hell of a thing to find out the way you did! but at least it was not all for nothing as there was a problem that needed fixing. I hate the idea of the AUS but I also would hate to not have it too. As Steve can no doubt tell you, your scrotum will be full of tubes, you get use to it too. and the AUS works!

Real problem was that there was no urinary problem other than a little urinary frequency at njght which was easily attributed to all the diuretics in my blood pressure medication. The only way he would have had a good guess is to try and fail. Real bummer is that if the injections hadn't quit this would not be a discussion. Maybe the equipment is just worn out, or out of order.

By the way, how loung is recovery on the AUS. I am just about out of vacation for the year. Going back to work in the morning to preserve what vacation I have for what ist to come.

At least no pain and only minor discomfort. Oh yes and the feeling that I am wetting on myself from the catheter(but I know that feel from years ago).

One more post on this, woke up with a morning boner, it still does its natural thing on occasion, just absolutely is not dependable for the main job. Anyway, it is a rather strange feeling to have a boner up a catheter. Didn't get a picture, it hid to quickly. Strange, I believe I had the same thing a few times way back when recovering from RP but that was 12 years ago.

A woody with a snake growing out of it would have made an excellent picture. Oh, how weird we get when deprived!

The AUS surgery was also outpatient and recovery was about 5 weeks. If I recall, he had me come back in in 3 weeks to activate it and show me how to use it. I had similar swelling and bruising to what I have now, although different.

On the AUS, he made two incisions - one under my scrotum to place the cuff on the urethra and one in my abdomen to place the resovoir. The cut under my scrotum was the most painful and I couldn't sit for weeks.

The IPP implant took only one incision, just above my penis in my lower abdomen, but in addition to my scrotum swelling, my penis has swelled like a balloon. If I sit too long, it still swells.

As i said before. the AUS only solved about 95% of my incontinence issue. While I'm thrilled with that, I cough or sneeze I squirt some and if I orgasm, I squirt a lot. That is why I'm considering going back in and having a smaller cuff placed. Otherwise i'll be stuck with using condoms all the time.

But hey, at least I'm free of prostate cancer as my PSA has been 0 for over three years now.

Thanks for the good information. No cancer for over three years great! As much as I hate the ED and other inconveniences of the prostate surgery, I absolutely prefer it to the effects that would have come with cancer.

Well back to this journey that I am making> I will give my urologist a break, he is rather new to my care and only had the data from myself, my primary care doctor, my records, and initial visits. The problem that changed the track of things now appears to have been subtly announcing itself for quite a while. My fight with high blood pressure was masking it.

My main doctor and I have had problems with the various blood pressure medications making me retain water and my ankles swell. Unknown to us was the problem with my bladder not emptying fully contributing to the same effect. Post urethral scar tissue removal and catheter insertion I have lost quite a bit of water weight and my ankle swelling has decreased quite a bit. SO my primary doctor and I should have gone beyond attributing the ankle swelling to blood pressure medication and I would have started to chase the scar tissue sooner.

Oh, well. It is hopefully fixed now and 11/9 I will get rid of the snake, catheter, and be back on my way. I live in farm country, I should know that there isn't such a thing as a strait road. Can't wait for a new date and to get rid of my snake.

Catheter out, healing exceptionally well so far and waiting on the usual players for a reschedule sometime in the first of November.

I have a new schedule date! November 7, 2012 at 11:00am -- This is surgery time, I will have to be at the Hendersonville Medical Center at least two hours prior for all the preparations. The implant is scheduled to be an AMS 700 LGX. Very good news, leakage is nil, nada, nothing; I have no more problems than before 10/1.

Since I am allergic to penecillin, they will first start an IV and add an antibiotic infusion. This will take an hour or so before surgery can start. Same antibiotic restrictictions will probably mean that I have an overnight stay, though the "normal" routine is for leaving without an overnight. I don't have a pre-op appointment with the medical center yet.

Now back to waiting and all the anticipation both positive and negative that this entails. Now I get to wonder, will it happen this time or will there be another problem. Maybe they will be better at hitting a vein too. Three attempts to get an IV in is a little bit of a bummer.

So, anyway, I am back on the list just further back now.
