It might be a physical cause but without a doubt I have a lot of stress from ptsd and depression. I m 46, healthy overall physically, and have had some success with viagra 2 years ago when I was with my girlfriend, but I haven t seen her in a year and a half and it doesn t seem to function as good as it was 2 years ago. I m going to try injections and I have some viagra from the va for the time being.
I don t want to mess around with all the types of meds, I dont want to buy time till it simply doesnt work anymore, so I m only trying to buy time with meds till i get back pay for disability from the va, then
I m just going to pay out of my pocket and invest in an implant.
I don t care if there might be reasonable success with meds for some years, I don t see any reason not to get an implant as early as I can afford it. Did anyone else feel that way and do it without putting much time into meds?

Less invasive is almost always better than more invasive. Try pills, pumps, and shots before you go under the knife. If none of those work to your satisfaction, then go for the implant and never look back.

I appreciate it much greg. I m using the pills, and first injection tomorrow, it would be good if that was enough. I will be able to say I tired the others before if I pay for an implant. Best to you.

If you read thru the posts in the Implant section, you will find the biggest grip is they wish they hadn't waited so long before getting an Implant. This includes myself ... I was on Viagra for 10 yrs. prior to robotic prostrate surgery ... after the surgery the pills no longer worked and Trimix wasn't much better (venous leak). So 6 months after robotic surgery I elected to have an Implant.
This has cured my ED issues and we couldn't be happier ...

May I add a voice of reason here?
Almost every that has gone to an implant, wishes that they had done it sooner; the catch is that going to an implant is an irreversible process! Therefore, one has to be very sure that all other reasonable alternatives have been exhausted. That being said, I am going for an implant as soon as the scheduling is worked out and the times come. It has taken me about 13 years to get to this point. Was content, but not happy to use injections for most of that time but they have quit, so on to the final step. Should I have gone to the implant sooner; yes. Would I have gone directly from a RP to an implant, no.

Could you explain what you mean by the injections quit. Was it a slow process that required ever increasing doses in order to be effective or did it just start being ineffectual after many years.? Also, how long were the injections effective before they started to fail?
I have been injecting for a little over a year with good results, but have noticed recently that I needed 18 units to accomplish what 12 units accomplished in the beginning. Not sure if the effectiveness of the injections is waning or if other conditions are at play.

Hi Oifsps, If you have a look under genral discussions for a post titaled HERBS VERSUS DRUGS, HERBS MY CHOICE, its proberly the cheapest way out of ED, some of the things I use you may have in your store cupboard, and you only real outlay would be for DHEA a hormon and Tribulus a herb, I take it in capsule form and as a natural herb in green tea, so please give it read and a 12 week trial, if it works for you as it does me, your be OK, but it needs to become a way of life and like get some real good boners with no drugs, think a drug free life and sex when you want it even twice a day if the need arises.

I am also a vet with ED. I have recently started receiving Edex for injections from the VA, beginning with the 10mg dose. It's been three months & the effectivness is waining, so I will need to move up to the 20MG dose soon.
While I was with the VA uro, I asked about implants. I was told that the VA will provide an implant, but that I need to go through using the injections until they become ineffective. I have no problem with that, but do believe that an implant will be the ultimate answer to my situation.
Have your talked to a uro at your VA medical facility? If not, you should do so. Is your service-connected disability related to your ED? If so, if they find you eligible, the VA would provide you with the implant at no cost. I was found service-connected for ED (Vietnam, Agent Orange exposure), so I have had no problem getting treatment. Your situation with PTSD or other causes should service-connect your ED disablility as a loss of a creative organ. You may not be compensated directly for it (not paid), but it will enable you to receive treatment, including an implant.
How long since you applied for disability? It took them over a year to approve my case, but it was complicated with additional claims (I shotgunned them with all my ailments). If your case is less complicated they should finish up with you pretty soon. I did hear that the disability section was backed up by many claims since the draw-down in the Middle East.

For those here that asked, with me the failure of the injections was rather rapid. Less than 3 years from 10mcg is almost too much to 40 mcg isn't good enough. There was about a year in there with no injections. (Caverject or Edex are about $80 per injection with no insurance) No insurance, financially recovering from 18 months of no job and having to move over %00 miles at my expense, the new insurance would not cover for a while. When I got back to injecting, it was quickly downhill.
Just as well, forced my wife and I to reconsider the implant route once all the insurance got ironed out. Urologist another problem on first implant attempt.

I ve read that from others some before, I wont hesitate to. But I can t say I had an in depth check from experienced urologist, only simple blood tests, so I m not certain the cause. But, by the time I can afford it anyhow I will have used meds and injections enough to know what option is best.
