Poll: Are you satisfied with your implant?

Btw, looks like dmikesaw was implanted in 2017. A quick look at his posts he doesn't sound dissatisfied. But he quit posting at about the 10 week mark. I'm going out on a limb on this one. He is satisfied & sees no purpose in posting anymore. This fits in with LS's comment.

Well, many people here and on other ED websites keep throwing around 90-95% implant satisfaction rates. I have looked at everything I can find on other websites too: implant doctor's websites, implant manufacturer websites, hospital websites, research papers, etc. Many of them also mention a 90-95% implant satisfaction rate (keep in mind that most, if not all, are biased sources). However, none of these sites I am referring to mention just exactly what the poll questions were, how they were phrased, etc. They just say that about 90-95% of men receiving implants are "satisfied."

So, out of curiosity, I decided to poll Frank Talk members who have had implants, (edited for brevity)

Some of the research papers do post the poll questions, or mention a standardized questionnaire ("International Index of Erectile Function questionnaire"). I do not have the links. Sorry.

Remember that the sample population you are inviting is self-selected and will have a bias built in. Most likely toward the negative answer because completely satisfied men tend to visit the site less often and may miss participating in your poll

Agree. This is not a statistically-robust survey and as such, no conclusions can be drawn from it. Take these numbers with a grain of salt.

Not satisfied with my implant.
Wish I never had done this. I was 100% impotent after RP and I couldn’t accept that. Got implanted by not so good doc who cares more about peer reviewed papers then his patients. Installation was bad. My right RTE is not in place where it should be and is poking me at penile base and forming 2 inches long big bump which is hurting like a hell and Insurance won’t pay for my revision. I am not any better now then I was after RP. Had non usable penis then, have non usable penis now with severe pain. I did not inflate my implant for months.
Big mistake to go with implant in my case. Regretted it badly.

My implant was done Jan 13, 2020. Could not be happier. I have my life back.

Nothing.
Just denied 3x. First appeal denied.
Working on on 2nd level appeal.
I am 100% sureAetna won’t give up.
And I work for well known hospital.

Exactly why polls like this are worthless. If you are happy, probably never on here, or are for a while then just stop.

Then there are those with issues. Definitely biased. What would your answer have been if all had gone great and you now had a working penis.

Why put up negativity at all, although we each have opinion, which is valid to us.

I got on here several years ago for information about a procedure my urologist never even informed me about. Researched doctors and made my choice to get one. Then stayed on to get advice on what to do after.

My opinion really should not matter to anyone else. You are going to sign the authorization for surgery. You are going to decide, without an implant you will NEVER be hard enough to penetrate someone else again. Or you will decide no more ved, creams, shots, pills, etc to get hard enough to do so. Or doing those other things caused more problems than they helped with. So you will try the implant.

If you are okay with never being hard enough to penetrate someone, no problem with me. That is your choice. I just hate reading about when it is not your choice. But limited by finances or an insurance company, or lack of a good local doctor.

If there were no limiting factors, and an initial install went bad, would you still be right back at a surgeon telling him to fix this if it broke. I did, and that is your real answer.

Well, I am months away before being eligible for a free implant through Medicare, plus the supplement. I know the risks but I'm full speed ahead. I've selected Dr. Jeff Brady, in Orlando, who is widely respected as one of the best in the business. That said, I am completely comfortable with the possibility of a revision or two as I live with my implant -- although it's possible I won't ever need a revision.

I'll be 65 when I have my implant. I'll be looking forward to 15 years or so of rock-hard erections -- the best sex of my life! LOL.

I have already instructed my wife that, when it's all over for me, to have the mortician fully inflate me before placing me in the casket.

Life is short.
