Funny, but I worry that I'll die pumped up and my wife doesn't know how to deflate it.

I want to be laid out when i die, in a bed, a gin and tonic in the left hand and my right hand grasping my glorious Boston Scientific AMS LGX hard on, with a smile on my face, head tossed back, telling the world how happy I was to have had the implant! Satisfied? Shit yeah!

Well I do not see this poll as being bad or even off mark at all. According to on line reports of satisfaction for implants it is in line with those results. I see listed most 80 to 90 percent range given. So you would expect with the wording of the poll question this to be a bit lower. And of course this should not be mistaken as success rate as that is much higher in the 90's.

Has there been a study to ask men why they stop posting on FT that I missed? Just wondering how anyone can say the reason they stop is because they are satisfied. Seems to be plenty of satisfied guys posting on FT. I know of several that were not happy with the surgery and no longer post.

I find real value in this poll and other studies. It lets doctors and device manufacturers know there is still a need for improvement. And I think a 80% or near that complete or over all satisfaction rating is good. But for those doctors and manufacturers that are paying attention, there is room for improvements. Some have been discussed and some were in the works last year and I hope to see some really great things for us in the future.

No arguement that there is a wealth of experience that continues to visit/post even though they are happy. It is hard to deny that men having problems or a persistent problem visit FT for information. It is the numbers that are skewed. When talking to my surgeon about FT. First thing he said was that satisfied members tend to drift away. Really, I don't see that as a surprising reaction. If a guy isn't interested in helping others then WHY would he keep using his valuable time to read the forum? Just look at how many cars will zoom past a stalled car on the side of the road. The analogy fits this forum perfectly.
I look at how many guys say they'll get a replacement if their implant fails. I look at the guys that lament that they should of gotten their implant years earlier than what they did. I don't see a line forming up to get implants removed. Just exactly what is it that makes you think the satisfied rate is alot lower than many have stated. Please don't throw out look at all the newly implanted that aren't happy. You watch their posts a year after they're implanted & most of them sing a different tune.
Btw, I propose that the insurance companies will drive better implants. As long as insurance will pay for revisions. Why would the implant makers change the design. Men are not the common purchaser. The insurance companies are.

How effective is the surgery?
About 90 to 95 percent of inflatable penile implant surgeries are considered successful. That is, they result in erections suitable for intercourse. Among men who have had the surgery, 80 to 90 percent report satisfaction.

https://www.healthline.com/health/erect ... y#efficacy

The majority of men (79%) reported to be satisfied with PPI. Content analysis revealed four main themes for men's satisfaction with the PPI: (i) psychological factors were reported 54 times (n = 54) and included positive emotions, self‐esteem, confidence, enhancement of male identity, major live change, and self‐image; (ii) improvement of sexual function was reported 54 times (n = 54) and referred to achievement of vaginal penetration, increase of sexual desire, sexual satisfaction, penis size, and improvement of erectile function; (iii) relationship factors were reported 11 times (n = 11) and referred to relationship improvement and the possibility of giving pleasure to the partner; and (iv) improvement in urinary function (n = 3).

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs ... /jsm.13054

One year or more after surgery, the patient and partner satisfaction rates, were 83.2 and 85.4%, respectively. We observed very high patient and partner satisfaction rates for the implantation of an IPP, with improvement of the general quality of life. These rates are negatively influenced by the occurrence of postoperative complications and complaints such as postoperative penile length shortening, pain and floppy glans syndrome. Most patients regain sexual function 6 weeks after surgery with no or minimal effect on the orgasm.

So there are 3. If you want more you can do the work and look it up for yourself. Again do not confuse the successful implant rate with satisfaction rate. Just because the surgery was a success in implanting a penile prosthesis does not mean that the man was satisfied with it.

As far as the reason men stop posting on FT we will just have to agree to disagree on that. We just have different oppinions. But the reports above compared to the poll results with the more restrictive poll question dose not seem to show a great difference.

I know we are both here to help others and provide information about implants. Take care and wishing nothing but good thing for you.

Good research.
True, I have mixed success with satisfied. I stand corrected.
Still it looks like 83.2/85.4% are satisfied after 1 year. I've said before that it's the only game in town. If you're not happy where you're at. 80+% looks pretty good.
Going back to my consultation. I did ask about common complaints. Unrealistic expectations & a poor memory of penis length were quoted as common complaints. The one article does mention length & floppy glans. I would suggest that as surgeons get better that some of that might decrease. Basically, I wonder how many poor surgeons work made it into the studies?
Thanks for listing the studies.

I am very happy with my implant. I did a lot of research prior to my implant and tried to schedule it to where it would not interfere with anything. Discussed with my wife, Urologist and my surgeon. Scheduled it out far enough that I could make any changes should need arise. Everything went perfect! Not many things go perfect but my implant surgery went perfect. Not a hitch anywhere. This made me feel very positive about the surgery and the end result.
