It was recommended to me today by the doctor to VED before surgery to help with size. Has anyone got a prescription from doctor for a VED? If so, where did you go through to purchase?

You do not need an expensive Medicare grade VED. A less expensive sex store pump will do the trick. Check Amazon for a LeLuv pump with vacuum gauge.

dtwarren1942 is correct. Physics tells us that a vacuum is a vacuum. How it is produced is irrelevant to your penis, really. The differences between a medical grade pump and a sex shop one or one you can build yourself from parts purchased from an auto parts store are what might make a difference to any particular user.

One of the primary differences is application of a constriction ring. The medical grade ones often have pretty good systems of applying a constriction ring. But the constriction rings are only useful if you want to have sex with a vacuum-induced erection. If you want penile therapy, the constriction rings have no use whatsoever and are, in fact, counter-productive.

Another difference of note is how the seal is made between you and the pump. If you cannot get a good seal, you cannot get a good vacuum. Comfort becomes a factor here, too.

Safety is enhanced with a vacuum gauge. You can damage yourself if you apply too much vacuum. Fortunately this is easy to avoid with or without a gauge if you pay attention. I have been told that medical grade pumps often have a safety valve that prevents going up too high in vacuum.
