Use of Vacuum Device with an implant?

As the VED use was at nearly 2 weeks after the activation date in the study I posted I would cycle for a while before starting VED use to see how it went. Follow your doctors instructions for cycling. Contact your doctor about his if you did not receive any. In the study VED use was for 5 minutes during cycling. And was for 12 weeks. As with any VED use be careful. Review VED use instructions. VED use can cause damage and be sure to slowly increase vacuum. One with a gauge is best to keep from excessive vacuum. Do everyday for 6 months.

Yes this is where you end up at but the cycling protocol in the AMS DVD starts off much more slowly than that. This is why the mans doctor is the best source for this. AS the OP is on day one of activation if he follows the AMS DVD he should inflate to max and then immediately deflate. And then work up to the 10-15 minutes in the upcoming weeks. As is shown in my above link.

Ah, I didn't know that. I used a VED extensively inbetween prostate surgery and getting the implant. However I would rather do the regular cycling of the implant to see what gains can be made, if any, rather than using the VED again due to fear of possible implant damage. Especially after years of ED, its fantastic to have the capabilities that the implant gives.

I am not afraid of implant damage at all as that same DVD mentions VED use during the segment on cycling. I was worried about person damage. The conservative start on the DVD is why I wrote to contact your doctor for cycling instructions. And as I stated I had gains out past one year with cycling alone. VED use is just a tool that shortens the time it takes to do this. Cutting the time to 12 weeks vs. 12 months. As the papers show choosing a doctor with a shorter activation wait seems to be most important. I am not against VED use post op for men that can and want to do it. I just feel that normal common sense caution should be used when doing so.

The OP and other members following this thread can make their own choice on weather to or not to use VED and weather to follow doctors instructions or not to follow them. For example some men self activate early and some have no trouble but some may have infection from it. The same with not waiting to be cleared for sex. And some doctors are more skilled than others where earlier activation and sex has less risk. The OP may be able to skip part of the cycling protocol on the DVD with little risk and his doctor may agree or not. The same with early starting VED use. But as we are different others may be at much more risk. And some are just unlucky.

I am very happy you had success with yours and have no problems. I just wanted to make sure others following this thread understand there can be a risk involved trying to push the limits to fast.
