depth adjuster!

Postby cmetalman » Wed Jan 02, 2013 2:07 pm

I received my autoject 2 today and it has a depth adjuster which is marked 4,6,8,10,12.My syringes are 28g x 1/2 long so what depth would make sence to use? I'm assuming the needle is suppose to go 100% into the penis.Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated...this was my "second" question of the year..more to come;)

You need to get a Vernier to accurately measure the length of the needle projecting from the bottom of the autoinjector after been released. I presume the 8 mark refers to 8mm, but check with the Vernier or a ruler that has the end cut off at zero mm. Hope you get my meaning.

Went through the same experience using an autoinjector, major problem is that you select a point to inject , but the inject can be a good 10mm from where you want it, if you look at the needle sticking out of the autoinjector, its not in the center of the unit and when you inject it does not go where you wanted it to go.

I experienced bruising/discoloration caused by the rupturing of a blood vessel, which took a few weeks to come right because of this problem
I got rid of the autoinjector and now use 30g 8mm syringe, solved the problem of hitting the right place and then you are in control of events, with the autoinjector traveling at 100km there is no room for error.

Hope the above helps

Mike, thanks for your reply, right now my syringes are 28gx1/2 long and I have twice injected and hated doing it. I'm hoping to switch to a smaller size syringe.

Hi Mike, also started with 28g x 1/2 syringes and changed to the 31g x 8mm but had problem with a damaged needle so changed back to 30g x 8mm.

My uro said that 28G x 1/2" was best. He said unless you were thick when flaccid 1/2" was better than 5/16 because it penetrated the Corpus better.
Also the 28G was less likely to bend when inserting it in the vial and penis

I have had several misses with a 3/8 inch needle. I have a few bent needles with a 30 gauge 1/2 inch needle, but the comfort is worth the occasional wasted syringe and never had a miss, yet.

There should be a pamphlet that came with your auto injector. There is usually a table in the back of the pamphlet. And yes, you probably want between 3/8 and 1/2 in your penis. it depends on the BRAND of your syringe as well as the length of the needle. What brand of auto injector did you buy? Owen Mumford? I think they use letters. Ambimed? I think they use numbers. Anyway, if there is not a direction guide telling you what number to use, call the manufacturer. they will tell you.

Paul, the brand is a Owen Mumford,it does say to "check with your health professional to determine the correct depth of penetration.I think I'm just going to continue without the autoject and get this right.I just received some new syringes that are 31g x 5/16 as opposed to mine which are 28g x 1/2, but the dosages markings are different as mine are marked starting .01,02 and up ,the new ones are marked 10,15 and up...I think I'll be calling my uro for some advice on monday before I change anything.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Did your doctor tell you to insert the needle all the way in? Or how far did he tell you? Or, did he tell you nothing? What brand of syringes are you using? Tell me those things and I can tell you the setting on the Owen Mumford device. If you can inject without the auto-injector, then don't bother with it. It's an extra step. I've worked with one clinic that never allowed their men to use them - they wanted them to get over it and be able to deal with injecting themselves immediately. Thought it was a bit harsh at the time, but I understand the reasoning. lol.

Paul, the syringes are B-D allergy syringes (latex free) funny I'm not allergic to latex. 1cc syringes with 28g 1/2 (12.7mm) needles, hope this helps. And no I don't recall the uro telling me actually how far to go but it looked like he injected all the way in during the demo.
Thanks,Mike
