Has anybody tried Boron. It's said to reduce SHBG,
sex hormone binding gobulin?
I'm trying but no test yet

Re: Boron Supplements
I've been trying 3mg/day boron for about a month. No result yet. I plan to continue for six months. I'll post here if I find anything.
You might explain SHBG; I haven't heard of it.

Re: Boron Supplements
Testosterone is often, but not always, reported three ways: Total testosterone, Free testosterone, and Bound testosterone. The liver produces proteins called globulins (so the Web tells me). One of these proteins is named SHBG, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin. This protein "ties-up" or bonds with some of the total testosterone, reducing the free testosterone which is the important one.
Even when my testosterone is high-normal, my free testosterone is low because too much is tied up with the globulin. I think the Free Testosterone is what counts, but, while I was a chemist, I'm not an MD.
I saw where boron supplements have been shown to reduce this globulin - and will hopefully increase the free testosterone without getting the total testosterone in the dangerous levels.
To complicate things, this SHBG is reported two ways; as a % and as g/dL (grams per deciliter). My urologist's PA says he relies on the percent number - and mine is always low. However, the percentage seems ok. WHY the PA believes the % vs the g/dL is unexplained.
My next appointment is mid month where I will likely have a blood draw and see if the Boron helps.

Martin 6469, what I read was a dosage about 2x of

Re: Boron Supplements
Congratulations re Saturday! I'll be interested to know if success continues. I'll try doubling my boron dose. Are you saying that reducing SHBG might bring glans sensitivity up to where it used to be? Synthetic testosterone gets me to a good level, and sildenafil+Trimix gets me a good erection. But I'm lacking sensitivity of the "special nerve endings" on the glans surface.
Just talked to my G.P.; he says he knows nothing about a remedy. I asked him "Who studies those nerve endings?" He didn't know.

Re: Boron Supplements
Martin: Two things. The research paper reporting increased Free Testosterone was based on 11 mg Boron per day. My bottle was labeled 6 mg, so I was taking two per day. I then noticed the 6 mg was not per pill, but for dose of TWO pills. I increased to two 3-mg pills both morning and night a few days ago.(12 mg)
Also, Wednesday night had a teriffic intravaginal orgasm, almost similtaneous with wife! First intravaginal in months.
I also consciously noticed increased sensitivity esp on bottom side under glans. I was using Astroglide lubricant. Now, it's possible that wife's orgasm also increased lubrication. I don't know but it was great.

Re: Boron Supplements
Update: I visited my PCP on a routine matter which included a
blood draw. I asked that T analysis be included. Results were
great with Total T at 1278 ng/gL, and Bioavailable T at
390 ng/dL. This was with biweekly T injections of 0.25 mL
and 12 mg daily of Boron supplement. (Arthritis is also better
with Boron as predicted .
While some docs would feel 1278 T value high, my Uro said
It was fine for me since I have high SHBG (sex hormone
binding globulin). See earlier posts on SHBG.

Re: Boron Supplements
Growinjim,
I just started 11 mg Boron this week primarily for prostate health. In the last year my PSA has increased from 2 to around 4. Are you checking to see if Boron is helping your PSA value? I am 77 and a retired chemist also
