Implant in 3 days

Postby Azz1993 » Sat Aug 14, 2021 5:53 pm

Hello guys, long time ready (2 years) first time signing up and posting. I’m a 28 year old that’s getting an implant Tuesday 17th august. I’m in the north west of England. Never been this scared, worried and nervous in my life. I try not to think about it too much but the moment I do I feel like I’m about to have a panic attack or do sick!

Biggest worry is imagine having an infection or something and your sex life is gone!
Damn. I want to get married and have children one day
I hope it goes smoothly for many many years to come.

It’s been around 5 years since I couldn’t get erect
Before that I was totally fine, sex life was fine, then one morning I woke up and it wasn’t the same again
Tried the pills, injections etc, nothing worked

So here I go.. this Tuesday 17th august

Fingers crossed it goes well

Hang in there buddy. We’ve all been there. It’s scary as fucking shit. I almost lost it in the waiting room for my preop visit. I’m a week out of surgery and I’m more excited and hopeful than I have been in years. If you are like me and this is your last option, then you just have to go for it. The first week was rough, but totally manageable. You’re also 20+ years younger so your body will adapt much better and faster. Infection is a concern, just follow doctors orders to a tee after surgery add you should be fine. It’s also my understanding infection isn’t end game. They just have to remove the device, clear out the infection and go again. There is a greater risk for size loss the second time around, but it’s not end game.

Best wishes and keep us posted!

Cheers,
Mike

You’ll be fine. I’m almost 6 weeks post op. I was scared to death and in the same boat you’re in now. All will be well. Immediately post op is rough. Follow instructions from the doctor and most importantly listen to your body. Ice will be your best friend as will rest. Before long you’ll be telling guys your recovery story to help them out. My best to you and keep us posted.

Howdy from Texas and good luck in your upcoming surgical extravaganza. I suspect you’ll do just fine.

I’m 20 months in. Life just keeps getting better for this geriatric cowboy stud.

Try to keep a positive attitude if you can. Sometimes stuff becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

I had bruising, swelling, soreness. No real pain. Only thing resembling pain was when I peed after having catheter removed.

I was traveling the next day, driving 100 miles here and 75 miles there in my truck. I was up checking livestock but had pre-staged 50 lb sacks of cattle feed so all I had to do was tear bag open. Didn’t want to lift 50 lbs for a couple of weeks. No time, no need to lie around in bed.

Different guys react to surgeries in different ways. Let your body talk to you. If it tells you to rest, listen. If it says not to do something, don’t.

A lot of us have been exactly where you are right now. As much as we’d like to wave a magic wand and you’d wake up, the surgery would be done and so would the recovery....it doesn’t work that way. But do keep in mind that a lot of faceless guys who have dealt with ED the same way are cheering you on.

I swear I’m not one of those positive thinking self help book types. But I do believe you can worry yourself into problems via self fulfilling prophecy. My advice is to take the process a step at a time, expect things to go well and as planned. Expect a good result, realizing you won’t see the final outcome for six months or maybe a year. At three months you’re gonna be pretty much normal, but things keep getting better after that. Cycling is not a myth. It really works as well as the doctors say.

Many of us on this website welcome a private message from guys in your situation if you need reassurance, want to hear the good, bad, ugly of our own experience, or you’re simply worried and need someone to vent to. You can holler at me if you need to, I have had time lately to check my messages.

I’m a betting man. My money is on that, in 6 months or a year, you think back to the period right before the surgery, and wonder what you were so concerned about.

Hi My friend. I’m 56 and had my implant a week ago under the NHS, I live in North Yorkshire now but come from Manchester. I have had a problem with ED since I was 24 and went through all the usual tablets and injection stuff for decades. It all had such an affect on my self esteem, quality of life and confidence in forming relationships. I salute you for our courage as you could be my younger self. If I could go back in time and this option was available I would definitely have taken it at a much earlier age. Feel free to message me, it’s not the sort of issue you can chat about with your mates down the pub, I go over to Lakes, N Wales etc quite frequently so maybe you and I could meet for a coffee sometime and share experiences.
There is a small risk but remember most people who have this procedure are older, have other health conditions such as diabetes etc so you probably have an excellent prognosis.
I’m struggling a bit myself at the moment and my one tip to you if you’re on the NHS ask about frequency of follow up appointments and if you can speak to your consultant after the procedure. I notice many of the guys on here who have had the procedure privately seem to have excellent follow up support and that seems a bit lacking to me based on my NHS experience.

Hey Jonarr,

Are you happy with the sizing of your implant? Did you just go local also? Sounds like your aftercare is pretty poor.

Hey,

Who is doing the operation on the NHS? Is it local or are you going to Ralph?

I'm 37 and been waiting a few years myself. Fair play getting it done in your 20s, honestly.

Hi jump.ship I probably saw this consultant first about 2 years ago he’s called Mr Edhem at Harrogate hospital. I feel very blessed to have got the procedure funded through the NHS when there are 5.5 million people on their waiting list. I’m sure he’s an excellent surgeon but my sense is this is a very specialist field and my guy does lots of other urological work. I guess we can’t all see the very few numbers of highly specialised and experienced people that are around such as Ralph that I’ve just heard about on this forum. I understand there’s only about 450 of these jobs done per year on the NHS and I’m sure there’s a big back log after COVID
At the moment it apppears to be about an inch shorter than previous although I’m not sure whether I’m full or partially inflated. As I was only about 5.5 before all this I will naturally be disappointed if this is all I’m left with, but my priority is having a functional tackle.hopefully I will squeeze out another .5 inch after cycling etc I keep reading about. I was told to expect about a half inch reduction in size
