Travel w/ TriMix
Travel w/ TriMix
I have a week away coming up with the Mrs. I want to bring doses with me, but not sure the best way. How have you traveled with TriMix and kept it safe? I usually keep my vile frozen and thaw it out to make a week or so worth of needles.
57 years old, artificial heart valve. TRT started May, 2020. ED/libido issues never fixed by TRT. Not super responsive to viagra/cialis. Started Trimix 2/2021. 20/7.5/.25 mix.

I use a kit that diabetics use to transport insulin. Keeps vial cool for 12-16 hours. We travelled through Europe for 3 weeks with no problem. Most Hotels have mini-fridges. Ones that did not gladly stored the kit in their freezers.

A few days ahead of time, I pre-load two syringes, put them in an eyeglass case with some small freeze bags (get 'em on Amazon), and put the case in the refrigerator (not freezer). (Some FT guys freeze the syringes, but I wonder about plunger movement when the liquid expands, or maybe the barrel cracking.) On departure day I just put the case in my luggage between clothing to serve as insulation. I've gone up to five days this way with no drop-off in Trimix effectiveness.
I hear there are insulin syringe travel containers, but I haven't looked into those.

I use a travel pack I bought on Amazon listed under insulin travel pack. $25 or less you can freeze the pouches that go in the pack then either pre load several syringes or just bring the vial. Pack keeps cold for 8-10 hours in my experience

Okay, so it sounds like you find an good insulating material and then hope for the best with your checked luggage. I'm guessing bringing on the plane is not happening?
I also saw they make a "traveling trimix" that you mix yourself on the other side? Has anyone tried that?
Thanks for the tips!

You can absolutely bring it on the plane. You don’t have to check it. TSA is used to people bringing medication that has to be refrigerated all the time. This is no different.
My TriMix vial comes in a bag that has my prescription on it. I’ve never been stopped but if questioned, would just say, “It my prescription medication.”
They aren’t going to ask what it’s for or why you have it. They just want to make sure it’s not illegal to dangerous.
So feel free to bring it in your carryon if that is more convenient.
