I have global entry which gets me to the pre check line where you pass through a magnetometer rather than the full body scanner, however occasionally the pre check line is closed and I am routed through the X-ray. I don’t know the model of the unit, but recommend the Global Entry or Pre-check programs as they are well worth the expense if you travel with any frequency and priceless if you are implanted.
I wonder if it is possible there is something different about the saline solution inside you implant that sets of detectors than in other implanted men's implants? This is a mystery. If I ever fly through BWI, I will have to check out their scanner bu having it check me out.
Seems to me that if the image shows density. I.E. bones, clothing or coins. It should show the cylindrical shape of the implants. Along that line of thinking. I would expect a properly trained operator to ALSO see the reservoir & the pump. That should get you a wave on thru.
An interesting story. A neighbor lady we were friends with started working security at our airport somewhere around 1976. Her job was to watch the screen that scanned carry on bags & small luggage. She found a pistol. She was going to testify about it & had absolutely no idea what the names of the parts of the gun were. Of course she knew what a complete pistol looked like but....
My wife taught her what the parts were named so she wouldn't sound like an idiot. Hopefully the training has improved since then.

Re: Airport scanner
This is all very interesting and a bit disturbing. I've flown a few times since being implanted and BWI is my home airport. Never had a problem there. Was stopped at West Palm once after a body scan that showed different results on two scans--they patted my pocket and let me pass. Has anyone showed the AMS 700 Patient Identification Card to the TSA agents when stopped? Did that help?

Re: Airport scanner
helpful hint, get TSA precheck. They won't make you go through that body scanner, just the metal detector which the implant does not set off. It's worth the money for me.

Got the simple pat down and the back room search where they got me down to my jockeys. They were very professional and interested in what it was and why. The older guy, looked about my age, said he had a "family member" with issues after prostate CA. Maybe there will be a new member to the brotherhood.

I'm from nola. Did it take long. U miss flight. Got mine 4 months ago but with covid haven't flown. Security make u take drawers down to prove it. Otherwise what good did it do to take clothes off. SI did take grandkids thru security in late July early August recently at nola np.
It took about 5 - 10 minutes. Did not miss flight, I always give myself a lot of time since I know what is coming. I think the strip down was probably because I have other implants such as a knees and internal fixators for broken bones a long time ago. For what is worth I set all of the alarms off before I got the penile implant.

If it helps any, I have been patted down several time but on one strip down and that is for at least 100 if not more flights. I am glad they did their job well, don't do it half way and miss something if you know what I mean, Also interestingly the only strip came after I showed my AMS card for the first and only time so far.
