Greetings and salutations,
I just came on board and would like to introduce myself. My name is Howard and I am 52 years old, and have been struggling with the ED issue since about the age of 40. At 40 I went with the oral medications, and they did work very well
for a number of years. However the only oral medication that seemed to be effective was Viagra, Cialis and Levitra weren't effective at all. Prior to that I did try Muse, to no avail. That said fast forward 12 years later and the Viagra was
becoming less and less effective, then to the point of where it did not work at all. I was also diagnosed at age 38 to 40 with type II DM, I also had a lumbar surgery at age 27 and I'm not sure if that had some effect on my sexual function,
though I have always suspected there was some nerve damage that occurred that might have contributed to the issue. My other health issues have been heart disease, heart attack at age 48, and 2 stents, then another blockage a year
later. Thankfully my last cardio checkup was good. in my search for treatment I went to one of the clinics that prescribe injection therapy, my first try was less than stellar, I got an erection which did not last long and it was going between
erect and semi erect. The technician informed me that he had used the highest dosing that he could, and felt there might be a chance at success with injection therapy and suggested that I return the next day for another go at it. So I go
back the second time and its worse then the intial visit . At that time he then informed that I might have venous leakage problem. So now I find myself once again seeking the services of a uro, and he is recommending implant surgery to
correct the organic impotence BTW he did say that he didn't find any evidence of venous leakage. I talked with him about the initial injections and my past history, and at that time he did write me a prescription for Edex 40 Mcg My initial try
with the Edex didn't work, though I think there was an issue with me trying to self inject, as the second time I did use it, it worked to some degree, though usable, it wasn't as erect as I would have liked to have been.
Since then I still am considering the implant, though its a rather scary and ominous thing to have to consider, BTW I have since did some more research and felt that my rapport with my last visit with the uro wasn't as good as it could have
been so I am also considering using the services on another uro, Dr Garber to be exact. All this said I still have some questions and concerns.
1. The former uro recommended that I not use the Edex, because there is the possibility of scarring.
2. I am concerned about the loss of length and girth, after all I'm not really well endowed to start with, though most likely the loss will be minimal.
3. Post surgery pain, and getting used to having something in my body thats not normally there, does one get used to the feeling?
Cheers, Howard

Yes it's true that Injections can cause scar tissue ... although there is less chance with Edex ...
2. I am concerned about the loss of length and girth
You should not have any noticeable loss of length ... providing you do not have any pre-existing conditions (scar tissue) ...
3. Post surgery pain, and getting used to having something in my body thats not normally there, does one get used to the feeling?
Post surgery is more uncomfortable than painful ... after healing you will hardly notice the Implant ... except that you will most likely have a bigger package.
But that's not a bad thing is it? ... you should get good results with Dr Garber ... keep us posted of your progress ...

I do not have an implant, but I've been told that one side effect from an inplant is a never-ending grin.

Welcome to FT Howard.
I hope the following summary of my Penile Implant experience will be of some help to you.
I was implanted with the Coloplast Titan in December 2007 after developing ED Post-Prostatectomy in 2004.
The Titan implant completely corrected my ED and restored my sex life and the emotional bond with my wife of 45 years.
My wife and I both love my Implant and have fully enjoyed it for the past 5 years and counting.
Also, my Implant does not interfere with any of my physical activities, e.g., weight lifting, swimming, bike riding, etc.
In retrospect, it is one of the best decisions I have made.
Wishing you the best of luck in successfully correcting your ED.
Bob

Re: New Here
Appointment with Dr. Garber went well, now I find myself going through the needed steps to move forward with the surgery. Cardiac clearance first, then labs. My next appointment is for April 16 for Doppler study and hopefully scheduling.......
