Longest anyone has gone without needing a revision?

Postby slipnslider » Thu Jan 06, 2022 6:37 pm

I'll probably need an implant someday but the need for revisions is really daunting to me.

Seems like almost every guy on this board has needed a revision at some point, many in the first couple of years or even months.

What's the longest any of you have gone without needing a revision?
44, ED problems began around age 28 when I was on finasteride for hair loss, and also got circumcised so I lost a lot of sensation. Pills gave me bad headaches and other side effects. Now using trimix 30/1/20. So far so good.

Wouldn’t base your opinion of true average implant lifespan from what you’ve read on here about people needing revisions within a short time.

Where do people with problems go? To the best resource they can find on the internet, searching for help and answers.

Data shows over 80% are functional at 15 years.

For those who are likely to put it to frequent use, shave a few years off that, maybe 8-10.

If you need one, you need one, right.

Not many reasons for a happy owner to post on the internet about their implant. They usually have funner stuff to do.
Btw, thanks to the few that share their stories.

My first implant lasted 15 years Ultrex AMS 700

Had a revision right away after the first failure. This time LGX AMS 700 MS pump failed pump after ten months.

Had another revision right away because of the MS pump valve was in the stuck open position and I could not get it to reset.

Second revision they replaced the pump, pulled the cylinders about an inch further into the glan and added rte' at the base going on two years now with no problems, so far.

I will say that my second revision I was amazed how fast I healed up. Doctor gave me the green light to use it after four weeks. I still waited longer to make sure I was not rushing it. Glad I did, it has worked perfect.
age: 75 First implant around 2001, 59 at the time. AMS 700 Ultrex
revision Dec 2016. 2ND implant 21CM, 1rte AMS 700 LGX MS pump

My Titan quit working after about 12 years. Since I'd never used it I did not have it repaired or replaced.

Search for user “pumpitup”. His first implant was 1993-2017. It seems to have been undersized though, maybe that helped the longevity

Just saw a prominent implant surgeon in the Richmond area today for a routine check-up at four months post-op (no problems). I’m willing to share that he said the 10-15 year lifespans of IPPs was based on pre-2010 models, and the newest Titans, of which I have one, are good for LIFE, or 100,000 erections, whichever comes first.

I’d like to believe this guy, who claims to be in the top 20 volume implanters in the US.

That’s just not true, man. I wish it was.

I'd nit pick at his claim. Is he counting just the implant or the complete assembly as installed? I have to say that of the members that were told about which part failed. It seems that the pump & tubing are the leading culprits. So a person could make some strong claims about just the cylinders & could be correct but wrong overall according to many mens definition of a failure.
A point to think about.
