Will medicare pay for a penile implant ??...if so, how hard is it to go through that process....my current insurance will not pay for even ED drugs...little loan an implant.
I just turned 62....looking to the future of maybe an implant down the road...

Medicare pay for an implant
Re: Medicare pay for an implant
It's my understanding that, at least for now, Medicare will pay for a penile implant.

Re: Medicare pay for an implant
I am 67....had implant 2-12-13...a month ago...medicare paid all except $1182.00...which I thought was very reasonable..I went to Dr. Lipshultz in Houston..just one visit and told him I had tried all the meds. and they didn't work anymore...he said I most likely had venous leakage and said I was a good candidate..waited a month..to make up my mind.. and called his office and set up a date..had to go to cardioligist for a Ok...I have A-Fib...he approved me and called back and set a date...I was very surprised how easy it was...Very happy ....everything has healed...going grat..

That's what my uro told me too. It seems to be covered under medical devices.

If you also have Medicare supplemental insurance, will that cover 80% of the remaining balance?

Re: Medicare pay for an implant
Hi dtwarren,
I was implanted with the Coloplast Titan in December 2007 after developing ED Post-Prostatectomy in 2004.
Between Medicare and my Supplemental Medicare Insurance (AARP/UnitedHealth Care) I had ZERO
out of pocket expense.
Hope this is helpful.
Best of Luck,
Bob

Re: Medicare pay for an implant
Hi All. Had an AMS-LGX implanted in 05/2011. Also had an overnite hospital stay just as a precaution by my urologist. Medicare and the sup[plement paid for everything. Not one cent out of pocket. The VA was also going to cover the entire expense, but I had to go tofar to have it done.
