I'm Confused

I have been reading a lot about Tri-Mix on this forum and it appears that many of you guys are using it.

I also read that Tri-Mix is not FDA approved or pantened. I have an appointment with a uro in a couple of weeks and wanted to request injections.
Is he (or she) going to be willing to offer Tri-Mix under those circumstances?

I have tried Viagra and Cialis. The Viagra effected my eye sight so my Dr. switched me to Cialis. That worked, kind of. Now my erections are very weak or not at all.
I also tried a pump with bands. That worked poorly or not at all.

As a result my GP is sending me to a urologist for either an implant or injections. I am wanting to try the injections first.

I am 75 and have had ED for about 15 years. First post.

ShopMan – Welcome to Frank Talk. You’ll have to see what your Uro says, if not Trimix, he may offer you Caverject, which is 100% Alprostadil and comes pre-filled so you won’t have to draw the medicine from a vile into a syringe. Insurance sometimes covers Caverject. It’s somewhat easier for Uro’s deal with and train you on, so given the above it’s more widely prescribed. The drawback is some men complain of ache or burning in the penis (not from the needle).

The advantages of Trimix are it’s more effective; about 90% of men get results with Trimix, whereas only 60% get results from Caverject. You’re less likely to experience ache from Trimix because it is a mix of three medicines, only one of which is a variant of alprostadil – so there’s less of it. If ache is a problem on Trimix, you can try Bimix. Finally, Trimix is less expensive than Caverject.

I would definitely try injections before moving on to an implant. If this Uro is not willing to prescribe injections – find a different Uro who will.

Shopman , from my experience Uro's tend to prescribe approved drugs first . Mine did , I asked twice for injections , and twice was prescribed something completely different . There is a link on this site for a compounding pharmacy search , find it and find a close compounding pharmacy . CALL them and ask for a Dr, recommendation for injection therapy . That is what I did , and found that my Uro. does prescribe it , so I called his nurse and specifically asked for Trimix , she set up a trial injection , and I got my Trimix script .......Uro's don't always listen to what you really want .I'll try to find the link for you and post it here .

Shopman , here it is ....all you have to do is go to the search , and plug in your zip code and mileage radius to search , choose your pharmacy , ask them as many questions as you need to ....they will be very happy to help .

Thanks guys. I'll wait and see what my Dr. says. As someone suggested if he won't prescribe Tri-mix I'll probably move on. From what I read Caverject is very expensive.
