There are a lot of variable.

What girth before implant?
Does the surgeon use the "tissue sparing" techinque
How much spongiosum tissue do you have outside the tunica?

For sure, you will gain no girth when inflating, because there is no inflating a malleable, but sexual excitement usually engorges your spongiosum. Sometimes the cavernosum tissues get involved, too if the tissue-sparing technique was used, but this is not something to count on.

But you will probably have a bit less girth than you had with a good erection. But remember, you don't have those any more.

An inflated inflatable is almost certain to give you more girth than any malleable that you might be fitted with.

I heard a malleable could be used to preserve size between 2 IPP installations. That probably means you will lose some girth right :/

Interesting observation you made there, Endoftheline. I have read that the malleable is used to keep the empty space in the tunica/cavernosum from shrinking up while an infection clears up (betwen revision because of infection) and always thought it was more for length than girth. But it certainly stands to reason that girth would be affected as well as length. Perhaps girth is less "shrinkable" than length?

I have not read anything in the literature about this. Anyone have authoritative information to share?

Or you can install a malleable until you get the required funds to have a proper surgeon revise your IPP.

The one thing I've learned from this forum is that it CAN get worse than ED if you pick the wrong surgeon. At least we can masturbate right now.

Well, we will have to agree to disagree I guess. At the end of the day all I have to go on is my own experience with implants. Neither one lasted anywhere near as long as I was led to believe it should (10 yeaars at a minimum, and probably much longer I was led to believe). In fact, the first one developed a leak in the dog ear of one tube after just slightly over four years of use, and the second one stopped working due to a stuck pump valve after just about two years. If these things were lasting as long as the companies claim they will, it is statistically quite unlikely that I would have not one but two implants stop working after such short periods of time...

I am past my 1 year mark, and crossing my fingers every single day because I do not want it to fail! I was lucky enough get an infection in my balls and had to go in for another revision.
Not sure why dog ears happen because, if you think about it. you are inflated while on the table. The Dr. is right there! He/she inflates and deflates to make sure it is functioning. Why isn't the implant checked for dog ears in the process? Those surgeon gloves are not barriers to feel the dog ears...and I know there is a rep in the room WHILE you are being operated on (someone correct me if I am wrong).

Agra13, most of your post is correct. But its the stiff material of the Titan & to a lesser degree the CX that causes the dog ears. Just fold an empty paper towel roll to see the effect. Folding an LGX is more like folding a sock. Stiff material vs soft material. Its that simple. Get an implant made of stiff material, you'll run more of a risk of dog ears.

Ditto to others - I'm nearly two years out with AMS700. ZERO issues. Moreover, I've become much more of a patient advocate and have talked to so many who are contemplating implant procedure to give them "FrankTalk" about my experience and allay their fears. Look, at the end of the day - this is serious shit, right? Nobody WANTS this - but the miracle behind modern medicine - gives us back our ability to achieve and maintain an erection - no matter if its an implant or otherwise. I wish I would have had the opportunity to have men to speak with F2F or otherwise - I'd have likely chosen this path 20 years ago. Alas, I endeavor to help make the journey easier for others - speaking regularly with patient groups, urologists, practitioners, insurance liaisons, etc.

I am shocked I hadn't found "FrankTalk" before now, but like you, will be here regularly, sharing and contributing as I proselytize the great functions of my implant.

Anyone who needs to talk - PM me. I've got this speech down to a science. Candid and "Frank."

Cheers,

Yes, it makes sense. Multiple surgery for failures after 4-5 years should be rare, in theory, even here

Captain, just like you, if I knew about FT before my surgeries, I would have asked more questions. All is well, but if I knew then what I know now...

GT, just like putting on a condom, you want to put it on without any air caught, this way you 'feel' more. I would think that same applies to these tubes. Pump it up once connected, before installed, then poof!
