I’m a 62-year-old man. I’ve struggled with ED since I was a teenager. I could never really depend on maintaining an erection, it was always hit or miss. When Viagra first came out it was helpful to me, even though it gave me horrible headaches and other issues. However, over the past 2 decades I’ve found that Viagra does not always work for me. I’ve been married for a long time. My wife was patient for a while, but then started being cruel to me when I could not perform. Lying in bed at night after not satisfying your partner and listening to their anger is one of the most horrible things a man can endure.
I started using Trimix 2 years ago and it has been a life changer. I have such confidence now. My biggest issue is having an erection for too long. Recently my compounding pharmacy changed the mix ratio with my Trimix. It used to be 10 alprostadil, 30 papaverine and 5 phentolamine. Now it is 30 alprostadil, 30 papaverine and 2 phentolamine. This mix does not work as well for me. I’m looking at options, including taking 50MG of Viagra an hour before injecting.
I’m very thankful to have found this community!

Welcome to the forum, merp55 and thanks for sharing your story. Thanks for valuing our advice.
Sorry to hear your wife is not as supportive as she might be, but I understand how frustrating it can be to get all revved up and not consummate. I highly recommend communicating with your wife that you are nearly as frustrated that she is at her missing out. And you are willing to try any and all alternative ways to guarantee she has orgasms as often as she desires, but you need her cooperation. (I often point out that sex is, in its essence, a cooperative activity.) I suggest you have this conversation outside of sexual situations - it reduces the pressure - but be ready to go ahead if she says, "Let's try it now."
When I was in the grip of E.D., I had a girlfriend who told me of her dissatisfaction a few times, but kindly. I suppose several of my girlfriends let our relationships go without telling me directly, as well.
Eventually I learned cunnilingus and proper ways to use sex toys to satisfy my partner(s). Over the years those skills proved valuable and still are, even after my (implanted) penis is reliable as a rock. My tongue is VERY good at getting my girlfriend's vagina to lubricate itself after a few clitoral orgasms and get her G-spot prepared to receive stimulation from my penis.
If she does not object to oral sex, I recommend you discuss it with her and try it. Of course, if you have moral objections to tongue-on-clitoris activity I can understand.

Welcome. Glad you found Frank Talk, there is so much good info here for men.
Sounds like you haven't found the right combination of Trimix yet. My thought is go back to the old formula and back down the dose a bit. Sudafed can be used if you keep an erection too long, 5 or 6 of them will help deflate you, but probably make you sleepy.
As much as my wife was very supportive through my ED issues, there was a few times failures made for bad feelings. My advice there is talk to your wife about the issue. Men of all ages have ED, and in most cases it is not their fault. Like any broken body part there are ways to fix it, either temporarily or permanently.

I combine generic Viagra (sildenafil) with half the Trimix I would otherwise need. See my reports in the "Injections" topic. But be very careful to start injecting only a quarter or so of the Trimix you currently use, to avoid priapism. It will take some weeks to titrate up to the right amount of Trimix. This combination is prescribed by some, but not all urologists.
Get a box of phenylephrine capsules (Walgreens Wal-Phed PE) and take 3 or 4 if you are hard for three hours. If that doesn't work, head for the ER at the four-hour point.
P.S. My wife is never annoyed when I can't perform because we keep dildoes in the night stand and I hold one in her while she masturbates to a nice orgasm.

Age 79 in 2024. On testosterone replacement due to hypothalamus malfunction. (Attention depressed guys: low testosterone is a cause.) Healthy health nut but ED due to getting old. Like to keep enough cardiovascular ability to thrust for 30 min.

Re: 62 year old man from Northern California
My urologist gave me the same advice for phenylephrine if I experienced priapism as a result of an injection. Not a problem, neither bimix nor trimix injections worked, giving me, at best, a semi-erection. It did, however, result in a small ulceration at the injection site. My urologist's comment upon examining that:
As an aside, I am reminded of Chris Rock's comment re: the warning in Viagra, et al. commercials: see a doctor if you experience an erection for more than 1 hour. "See a doctor? Hell, see a prostitute..."
Gee. Never saw that happen before.
