Pete,
After years of living with an enlarged prostate and what I considered tolerable resulting symptoms (needing to pee all the time, some urge incontinence), I started having frequent UTIs, and the urologist diagnosed that even after peeing I had a full bladder. The "residual" urine was especially high during the UTIs but it was high even when I didn't have an active infection. I had prostate cancer and radiation therapy back in 2006 and the prostate was enlarged even then (58 grams), and it had basically stayed the same size since then, but it wasn't until the frequent UTIs that I had to do something. I had a transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and the urinary problems seem to have gone away. This was only 2 months ago so I don't know whether the UTIs will recur. They send the tissue that is carved out to the pathologist, and there was no recurrence of the cancer, but they did note lots of acute and chronic prostatitis, which the pathology reports in 2006 showed also as well as cancer. I only went ahead with the surgery after monitoring for 9 months and 3 UTIs and off the charts "residual" urine, so I'm not suggesting anything more than seeing the urologist, getting evaluated, and considerint the therapies. Pete, what are the natural remedies that you are using to address the UTIs? Good Luck, Brian
