cannot deflate - Titan
cannot deflate - Titan
Having (jealously) read your stories of quick recoveries and little pain...I am 46 days post implant (Titan). Swelling and tenderness finally has gone done and I can "feel around" in my nutsack. Surgeon is on vacation, his associate "pumped me up all the way", then couldn't find the deflate buttons. He made three very painful attempts (with a break in between) until I could stand no more and went home fully inflated (Tuesday). He said he thought the pump ball had "rotated" and the buttons were front/back instead of side/side. He nor I can get my fingers to "front/back". I've been massaging, trying to "spin" the pump, trying to get the buttons any way I can. No luck....any ideas?

Re: cannot deflate - Titan
During my healing phase I spent a lot of time in my hot tub. In addition to the warmth feeling good, my testicles floated up and out of the way while the pump remained down at the bottom of the scrotum so I could easily feel the parts of my pump to identify what was where. If you don't have a spa available, sitting in a bathtub with about 12 inches if warm water should do the same thing.
I have an AMS so I am not familiar with the details of the Titan deflate mechanism, but if you look at a picture of the Titan and then sit in some warm water, you might be able to get it to deflate. My doc gave me DVDs for both the AMS and the Titan before my surgery, as he uses both. I think that Titan DVD contained a good enough picture of the pump to use for this.

Re: cannot deflate - Titan
Another thought is that the way I pump or deflate my AMS is that I stand with my left foot on the floor and my right foot on a bed or some other similar raised object like a chair or a toilet. Then I reach my right hand under my right leg to press the deflate button during deflation or squeeze the bulb during inflation. That works for me because of the way the pump sits in my scrotum. My doc was surprised that worked, even though he has installed 1000 implants.
You might need to use a different approach, depending on which way your pump is rotated, but my point is to be creative and try various approaches until you find what works for your situation.

Re: cannot deflate - Titan
I have a titan so maybe I can help if I can...you can pm me for my cell # if you like
Basically you have to maneuver your hand so that you can depress both pads at the same time..its not easy and the whole device can be a little slippery to grip. If the device is oriented front to back you can still get to the pads I would think with your leg up as dave suggests ...would also suggest to take some pain meds an hour before you try..when you press them together you wont feel anything like a click, just hold them tightly while you squeeze your penis with the other hand with gradual pressure moving from the head (actually from just under the distal tips of the cylinders to the base)
Good luck and like I said pm me for more help..btw are you not in pain being inflated to the max for so long?

54 y/o and suffered from organic ED (peyronies) for 10+ yrs. Pills stopped working, injections too painful and VED not for us.

Re: cannot deflate - Titan
Thanking you all (ya'll - I am a southerner) for your input. I took a long hot bath yesterday afternoon and "explored" - not particularly painful...I can make out the rounded end of the pump and work my way up from there. I cannot feel a "change" that might be the deflate buttons. The sample Titan my doc has looks as if I should be readily able to feel the difference. Will take another long hot bath this morning.... Can you "feel" a smaller part where the buttons are or does it seem to be just the other end of the pump ball mechanism?
Yes, being fully inflated is "somewhat painful to excruciatiningly painful". Yesterday afternoon, figuring I hurt anyway, my wife and I "tried it out". It was painful for me but her FIVE orgasms were worth it! I didn't "feel" much other than pain and have read that fully inflated is less sensitive for sex. Afterward, I had two or more hours of "extreme pain".
So while my discomfort continues and I look at my "much shorter and a bit thicker" cock, I do have a big smile as I know there are better days ahead! I might mention that since my Oct 2010 prostatectomy, I have had "no cock" to speak of, so my "little stiffy" does look wonderful!

I'm both baffled and shocked by this account. I've read it a couple of times. I hope you have found a way to deflate it by now. I'm not sure I know how to offer any effective advice, though I will offer a few comments for the benefit of others either considering an implant, or who are in the early stages of recovery.
I don't really understand the rotation explanation. I can easily rotate my pump by more that 90 degrees either clockwise or counterclockwise from its natural resting position. My natural resting position is deflate pads aligned front to back. I can easily grab and depress them in this position. But I can easily grab and depress them in any other rotational position too. The pads are symmetrical so plus or minus 90 degrees rotation covers all possible positions. Truthfully, I cannot understand the rotational issue you discuss, or how it prevents finding and depressing the deflate pads. Even if your pump is cemented in position and can't rotate, that shouldn't prevent you from finding and depressing the deflate pads. The only possibilities that conceivably occur to me are 1) the deflate pads have become so encased in scar or other tissue you can't get to them, or 2) the pump rides so high in your scrotum that the deflate pads, being the topmost part, are pulled so far up into your body that you can't reach them. However, I'm sure there must be some other explanation, and I just don't know enough.
I'm also shocked. I've commented many times that no one, and that applies even more to a medical professional like the "associate" you mention, should ever attempt to learn to inflate an implant without first being quite certain they know how to deflate it first. For me, and for many others, that first full inflation was excruciatingly painful quickly. The desire to deflate ASAP for pain relief is overwhelming. Seems to me that extensive familiarity with finding and depressing the deflate pads is lesson 1, in implant inflation 101. Only when that is mastered do you try inflating it. I would also think that if your surgeon does much implant volume at all, there would be more that one person familiar with implant operation. Nurses, PA's, maybe other doctors. If the "associate" can't make it work, I would think someone else would also be able to try their hand at it for you. Or, check the Coloplast web site and use the physician locator function to find other doctors in your area who are familiar with Titans.
Also, both Coloplast and AMS make model "keychain" replicas of the pump and deflate mechanisms. I know the Coloplast Titan replica is quite realistic, especially the feel of the deflate pads and how they operate. I've read the same about the AMS replica, though I have no personal experience with that. I had the replica over 2 months before surgery, and was able to use it to get extremely familiar with how the pump and deflate pads felt, before every trying to feel them inside my body. These "toys" are in fact quite useful in conditioning you as to what things will feel like inside your body. IMHO everyone should get one no later than the date of their surgery, and preferably well before that.
I assume you know what the pump and deflate pads look like, which would aid you in trying to find the deflate pads. If you don't, "a picture is worth a thousand words" and might help you. Of course, the keychain replica is even more useful than that. Google "Coloplast Titan OTR picture" to see any number of pictures. Re: cannot deflate - Titan
I have partially deflated it today. The swelling in my balls had not gone down enough to "explore" until last week. The "associate", I believe, knew how deflate me but I had such a piercing pain in my left nut (from an old vascectomy scar???) that I couldn't bear to continue. He gave it 3 tries, with breaks to see other patients in between. I asked him to just leave it inflated while I figured out what to to about the "nut-sack pain". Eventually I figured out how to work around the painful area. With some advice from BxGuy, I was finally able to locate and finally function my pads and partially deflate my implant.
I do wish I'd found this forum BEFORE i had surgery, as I might have done things differently. However - done is done! I feel like I turned a corner today and am optimistic about tomorrow.
