What type of doctor do you go to?

To get your Trimix prescription do you go to a Urologist or an Internist which is who I use for a primary care physician.
I'm currently getting mine from my Internist but I am thinking I may need to change doctors due to Medicare. I was wondering if most primary care physicians are willing to prescribe this or will they send me to a Urologist.

What has been the experience here?

I use a urologist. As far as I know Medicare doesn’t pay for Trimix, I know mine won’t. So, changing doctors solely because of Trimix would likely not accomplish anything. I do however think guys should be seeing a doctor that specializes in male sexual health/ED be it urologist, internist or general practitioner. My GP really didn’t know what Trimix was until I explained it!

I not changing doctors to get Trimix paid for, I want to switch doctors because I want a doctor that accepts Medicare.

I believe most Primary Care physicians initial response will be to refer you to a Urologist. However, I'm on my 3rd Primary Care Physician that prescribes it for me. I had to educate all three as none were familiar with it. If you know what you want and are confident explaining it to a doctor without stepping on their toes (most have egos) then you can likely pull it off.

I don't use tri-mix. I use straight mono-mix alprostadil (PGE1). I was on Edex prescribed by my Uro. He retired so I took my old script to my primary. She renewed my script. Then my insurance quit covering it. I then got my primary to write a generic script based on the Edex ingredients but 4 times stronger so I wouldn't have to inject so much volume. I then found a compounding pharmacy that would make it.

Well that 1st doctor left the practice so I had to train her replacement so he would renew the script. Well several years later he died. Too bad as I really liked him.

Now I've trained my 3rd doctor. Yes it did/does involve some dialogue but she now renews my script. She took a bit more convincing but we're all good now. She's a younger doctor. Some guys might have issues discussing dick issues with an attractive young lady but I'm well past that.

But yeah, their first response is to refer you to a urologist. I just explain that most Uros aren't that knowledgeable on the subject (which they aren't) and that I've been at this awhile and know what I need. In the process I hope I educate them enough on the topic so that they can help other guys in need. If asked I'd even do an injection demonstration for them.

If your internist doesn't take Medicare for office visits then yeah, I'd find one that does. Surely you see the doctor for other purposes that the visit can be coded under. I don't know if any Medicare plans cover ED injections.

I highly recommend you to go to an Urologist or if you can't go to a Medical Dr, do not ever go to a Naturepath 'Dr' because they are NOT Doctors, and unfortunately most of the ED clinics in the USA use the FAKE Naturepath 'Dr' because they are cheaper

If you just want a GP who takes Medicare, ask friends/family/neighbors if they have a recommendation for an MD. (No need to tell them your health issues). Then call those MD offices and ask if they take Medicare.

My GP was fine with prescribing pills but once they stopped working he recommended a urologist he knew dealt with Men’s sexual health. He was fine, be even he wasn’t well versed in customizing bi/tri/quad mix. So I paid out of pocket (OUCH!) for a specialist who ONLY deals with men’s sexual health. I wanted to leave no stone unturned and he was good at really dialing a good mix for me.

Now that I’m stable on that mix I’m back to my GP for script renewals.

So you went to a urologist to fine tune your TriiMix and then your GP was fine with prescribing it, right?

Yes. Specifically a urologist that specializes in Men’s Sexual health. Then my GP was fine with renewing it as needed.

I might offer this suggestion fwiw, if you know what strength you want to use and also have the freedom to increase/decrease at your discretion AND you want to save some dough, try Olympia Compounding out of Florida. For $50 they will do online consult with their doc, then place your order, which I always thought was at good prices.
