New member - Questions about caverject

Postby ldn12345 » Mon Jun 24, 2013 1:56 pm

Hi everybody im new here and im going to post some stats and information about me before asking my questions.

Im 20 yearsold from UK, suffering from ED since 15 yearsold.

I rarely wake up with an erection.
I can't keep an erection unless it is being stimulated constantly and even with viagra I can still loose my erection during sex.
With viagra I still only go about 70% perect hard and my head is still a bit soft compared to the shaft.
Without viagra theres no chance of me having sex for longer then 10 seconds before becoming soft.
With viagra I wake up in the mornings with firm erections for around 2-3 minutes so I guess I dont have venous leak.

I have been to my doctor and been prescribed viagra 100mg however it costs too much and i buy jellys online for about 1.50 each.
I have asked for caverject but been turned down because he said I would have to go to a urologist for the first prescription because I have to be shown how to do it.

I have had blood tests and there all normal. I've had a prostate exam and all normal too.
Im having more blood tests soon to check test levels and if there is nothing wrong with them there he said I can be refeered to a urologist.

However I started using steriods 1 year ago so I know my test levels are going to be over the roof so im in a sticky situation. However Im still going to get these done next week. I will let you know how I got on.

Ok now for my questions!

I have brought caverject 20mcg online from a uk phramcey website that can give you an online perscription but it costs 24 pounds everytime you want to order for the prescription on top of the caverject.

Is my doctor allowed to give me a repeat prescription once I shown him Ive been prescribed it by an online doctor and used it effectively. Or is it only urologists that can prescribe it?

Also I have found online a research lab that sells PGE1 Alprostadil 400mcg/2ml vials which is caverject but 10x dosage for same price as I have brought a couple days ago. How would I go about using that? Has anyone else brought it like this and diluted it or something? As I take it these will be replacing my jellys.

Also I should receive my caverject tomorrow and will let everybody know how I got on. I havent had a full erection in years which has been very depressing and Im hoping this will work as viagra works but the side effects are horrible and would love to have a 100% erection then a 70% one ofcourse.

Thanks

I also live in uk. It appears to be nhs policy that doctors will not prescribe Caverject unless they have had specialist training. You need to get your doctor to refer you to your nearest Erectile Dysfunction Clinic. Assuming that the Clinic agrees that you need Caverject they will show you how to use and give you a test dose - probably 5 mcg to start and then build up the dose on each visit until you get satisfactory results. The Clinic will then recommend that your doctor prescribes and you will get future presriptions from him.

You may have wasted your money with the 400 mcg. I tried from that source and it simply did not work.
80 year old Type2 diabetic, long term ED, pills then injections PGE1. After 4 years they became less effective. Implanted 20/3/2018 by NHS. AMS 700 CX 15+4 cm with MS pump. Never had any significant pain. Still working perfectly and used regularly.

Hi IDN

Once you get the 20 mcg Caverject from the online pharmacy, then whatever you do, don`t inject the full amount.

I`m also in the UK, and I also bought 20mcg from an on-line pharmacy (and by the way, there is no way your GP will give you a repeat prescription based on the one you got on-line. He/she is more likely to complain to the authorities about whoever issued it!!!). The 20mcg dose gave me such a boner that after 5 hours I set off for A&E!!!! Fortunately it finally went down before I got there!!! Read some of the threads on here about ways of dealing with an erection that lasts too long - and don`t think how wonderful that would be compared with your present problem, it could ruin you FOREVER!

The 20mcg Caverject comes as a syringe with an amount of sterile liquid with which to dissolve the alprostadil powder which is in a little phial. My experience would strongly suggest that you mix it all, as in the instructions, and then draw into the syringe an absolute maximum of only a quarter of it - ie about 5 mcg maximum. If you were trying this in the US it would appear that the doctor would start you with a trial at 2.5 mcg - ie an eighth of the mixture you create when you put the sterile liquid in with the powder. The last time I used 5mcg I had a five and a half hour boner - which despite what you might think, is not pleasant. Then keep the phial with the remaining 15 mcg in the fridge until you need it again.

If 5 mcg gives you a good boner that doesn`t last TOO long, than you get four doses out of a 20 mcg purchase. If you can get a decent erection from 2.5 mcg, then you get eight. The only thing I`d say is that if you are going to get more than one dose out of the 20 mcg order, then get yourself some new needles that match the injection needle that comes with the kit. If you were to end up trying to use the same injection needle more than once there`s a chance of giving yourself an infection. An infection in the penis - what a horrible thought!!!

Hope this helps

I used the Caverject system for a number of years but instead of getting extra needles if that is possible, I used to buy 1ml diabetic syringes and use those to take whatever I needed from the applicator supplied with Caverject. Syringes are quite cheap to buy.
Healthy 70yo used injectibles for 20 odd years, Alprostadil, Caverject and now a variation of bimix.
