Can Intra-urethral Alprostadil gel be frozen?

Postby TwoSox » Sat Sep 28, 2019 3:41 pm

At present Muse (Alprostadil) is backordered and there is no release date. So as a substitute, I ordered the above gel from a compounding pharmacy and I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with freezing this medication and if freezing affects its potency. Will ask the pharmacy when they reopen on Monday.

TwoSox,

Not sure about the gel - probably could? The MUSE pellets, of course, could and should be kept frozen. I had packs of MUSE in the freezer for years which I slowly 'mined' to make PGE-1 injections.

I just recently used up my last MUSE supply. Now instead of injections, I buy Misoprostal (Misoprost-200) pills which I just dissolve in water and use a little plastic injector to sploosh the slurry into the urethra similar to using MUSE. Injections were fine, but this is just as good and I think the effect lasts a bit longer even. Also, I didn't want to buy more MUSE -- it is so wicked expensive even if you can get 20 injections out of each pellet.

You might consider trying Miso if you are going to continue a MUSE-like method since each Misoprost pill is only a dollar (and you can stack em to increase strength of course).

They work better than MUSE -- no burning and no annoying ache (maybe you would get some ache at higher PGE-1 amounts -- have only done the 200 microgram pill).

I’ve had success with the method mentioned by JimStars with 200 mcg pill slurry. Tried 50 mcg (1/4 of 200 mcg pill), because on injection I was finding successs (and pain) with 37 units, but that was not usable result for me. At 100 mcg regular success for me, can last a while though but that’s not caused complaint or pain. Hope that helps others, tritrateing up to what worked just like injections is good since the absorption is different in urethra and our matabolisms vary.

Welcome input public or PM, recently not having as much success 100 mcg. My Urologist suggests Injection plus Cialls, including the weekend dose ahead of event, which in this pill form I have enjoyed success previously and repeatedly. Trying to figure out what changed? Maybe I used too much water, ie.lowering molarity of the slurry? Looked at meds and diet, only thing in there changed is started taking herbal boost to help T level(KSM-66 Boost) which seems to have really helped sensitivity recovery, but have had success for couple months with the boost in the equation. Anyone experience similar and what did you do to work through it?

Going to try least amount water at same 100mcg, then go to 125mcg if that isn’t effective.

Keep,

Good to hear that only 100mcg was enough. I have never used less than 200mcg -- and have been trying 300mcg lately. Not sure if it makes a difference or not. But no ache, pretty good E when I used a velcro strap. Cannot use 400mcg as it gives cold shakes -- must be dilating every blood vessel in the body or something! Another person mentioned shakes at that level too. I use a special mushroom-tip applicator (from Trimix Gel days -- works great) and I think that is around 1 ml volume. I dissolve the split up pills in that. Then I use two more 1/2 ml water splooshes to 'rinse out' the applicator of any leftover miso. So that's around 2 mls of liquid total. Probably not really needed but that's what I do.

Keep on trying ..

Just 1 or 2 mls of water is fine .. like an eyedropper full…

Getting some kind of splooshing syringe is a must …. So you might have to get creative with a drug store plastic syringe that you can either shape a blunt end or use some kind of thick glue to shape a mushroom shape ..

Good luck..

Hi guys -- very interested in your topic. I am implanted and have started using Trimix gel for glans engorgement, which as you may know is a deficiency of implants.
While it works well it is crazy expensive. The sounds of one buck a pill makes me drool with interest. My question is do you guys think that Misoprostal could be used for the same purpose -- i.e. not for total erection, just for glans engorgement?
75, used pills, injections -- all lost effectiveness. Titan implanted by Eid in Feb '22.

The normal injection sites have been replaced with inflatable rods correct?
How/where do you inject with an implant?

Joe,

If the Gel works for you the Miso pill should also for much less cost per sploosh.

Give it a try ..

(Also for implanters it could only help for the glands since that is all you have left that can be affected by the PGE-1. But I see my glans only really expands when I use the velcro strip as a cock ring .. if no constriction there's not a lot of glans engorge -- but that's just me. Not sure if such a constriction can be done with an implant?
