Needles

Postby SunsetEyes1977 » Mon Jan 16, 2023 3:45 pm

I've been using TriMix for a year now. It has been successful but I notice the needles bend sometimes when injecting. What am I doing wrong?

I find it easy to keep the needle plumb to the skin going in, then it's hard to push the plunger while staying plumb. It needs three hands, particularly injecting my left side. (I haven't recruited my wife yet to help, but you could try that!)

I've tried to break the thinnest needle available (31 gauge BD brand) by twisting it with needle-nose pliers, and could not, so I'm confident that this brand has sufficiently ductile needles that I'll never break one in use.

Have you tried using an auto-injector? They sell them on Amazon (AUTOJECT 2 SELF INJT DVCE 1300 1EA OWEN MUMFORD) and can be setup for whatever you need in terms of depth, etc. When I was given a dose at the mens clinic last week, that's what was used. I have diabetes and self-inject weekly using a similar device, it really helps to remove the need for a "third hand".

How would I draw the Trimix from the vial? Do I do it the same way as with a syringe? And I take it that injection is the same protocol as with a syringe?

You use a normal syringe and fill it the same way as always. The syringe goes into the self-injection device, sort of like putting a pod in a coffee machine, it just drops in. You can dial in the needle depth you want, and once you set it, you'll probably never touch it again. Once the injector is loaded, you literally just point and shoot. Use one hand to pull the penis to the side, and with the other one, you hold the injector near the button at the top. Place it on the spot you want and press the button. The needle shoots out so fast you don't feel it, and a part of the device pushes the dose for you. Once you hear it "click" (the dose is done) you just remove it. Afterward, the syringe can be removed easily.

You didn’t mention what gauge needle you are using. Too thin of a needle can lead to bending and even the needle breaking off.

I used 30 gauge needles and never had that problem. The larger the number the smaller the needle.

If you google it you will find that most recommend 30 gauge. Some even say 30 is too small. I think 31 is too small. Ask your doctor.

For an auto injector you'll need fatter needles of at least 30 gauge and longer needles of at least .5". The injector itself uses up some length which will make 5/16" needles too short. I prefer to do manual injections but whatever works for you. I also find if I inject too low, as described in another thread, I find it's much more painful for me. Also, BD brand while high quality, has too much plunger resistance for me.

What depth do you set it for?

I used 5/16” for awhile but experienced some bent needles so I switched to 1/2” and my injections have been much easier with no increase in pain.

I used an autoinjector when using Trimix. It really took the anxiety away of sticking a needle in your penis.
It was easy to use. I just didn't like that it kind of slammed the needle into you.
