How long until I can return to work?

Postby Ecbbrown » Sun Feb 12, 2023 4:23 pm

Hi guys…….I’ve been lurking for awhile and this is my first post. I’m seriously considering getting the implant from Dr Kevin Campbell in Cincinnati, Ohio. How long did it take for most of you to go back to work pro? I sit at a desk all day so I wouldn’t think it would be too long. Dr Campbell said about one week, but reading some of these posts where the pain lasted for weeks if not months has gotten me a little concerned. Thanks in advance!
48; Oral meds early 20s-mid 30s. Lots of side effects. Inject ever since, with 4 hrs or longer episodes of priapism. Thought was OK since they weren't longer. PD now. Logistics & pain of injecting have made me seriously consider an implant.

Hi! Welcome to the forum.

Pain lasting for months is an extreme rarity and it’s highly unlikely you’ll be in any pain whatsoever several months out. I had a penoscrotal implant 5 weeks ago. My overall pain level and discomfort we’re minimal, requiring not 1 pain pill and a few Tylenol the entire time.

I’m a pilot and was out exactly one month. I could have gone back at week 3 pretty easily but still felt discomfort after awhile because i am partially activated to 60% until week 6. This involved wearing tight underwear and a jockstrap to hide the bulge, and after awhile the pressure and soreness would be an unacceptable distraction. So, i waited until week 4. Everything was fine with mild discomfort. When i’m fully deflated, i expect everything to be perfectly normal again.

Your mileage may vary. Penoscrotal versus infrapubic recoveries seem different, but i know i would not have felt comfortable working after only 1 week. You’ll feel a bit delicate and very aware of the changes below first couple of weeks probably. Not to say pain, but you’ll definitely be aware that something is different. I could not lift more than 20 pounds for 6 weeks, btw.

Well ... the problem I am having is that when I sit the pump is on the bottom side of my scrotum, so I am putting pressure on it . It is a fairly hard object inside the scrotum surrounded by soft delicate things. Every day it becomes more bearable . I ordered this pillow from Amazon and it helps a lot in the car and while sitting: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09N8S599D?ps ... ct_details

You may also have a problem using a public rest room . You can expect to be sent home with an erection . How are you going to use a urinal without looking kind of weird , so ok .. you can sit on a toilet , but the problem then is that your penis will not point down into the bowl . I am not very big (thin frame) and my penis is not very long ( 19 cm implant) , so if I sit way back on the seat on an extended length toilet seat, and I lean forwards, I can get my penis to point down into the bowl and urinate that way. If you are longer and a larger person, this will probably not work for you ... you will probably not be able to get your penis to point down into the toilet bowl .

When you are sent home from the operation you will probably be given a hand held urinal, and you can stand and point your dick into it , and piss into it . Then you have a urinal with a few inches of urine on the bottom , and you are holding it in your hand . So, if you pissed into the hand held urinal in a toilet stall in a public washroom, I guess that at that point you could dump the urine into the toilet bowl and flush it , and then you could put the urinal into a plastic bag of some sort and walk out of the stall with it . I guess all of that would work . As long as the urinal does not become smelly when you bring it back to your work area in an un-rinsed condition .... just saying ...

Probably your biggest bathroom challenge would be if you had to take a dump . Which comes first? The dump or the urine ? You might not be able to control that . If you are sitting on the toilet in a toilet stall , with your dick in a hand held urinal, you may not have the proper angle, so if you piss into the urinal, the urine may just run right out onto you and/or your clothes .

So, all kinds of fun things can happen in the bathroom at work .

And what about your clothing ? What kind of pants can your wear ? You will need to either hide your erection or come up with a brilliant excuse for the bulge in your groin that I have not thought of yet .

Things will be a lot easier if you sit it out for at least 2, hopefully 3 weeks . At that point you will have had time to figure things out so you don't end up with an embarrassing disaster of a work incident(s) ...

Turn Back Time makes some valid points.

regarding peeing, if you’re partially inflated then indeed your dick will point straight out and you’ll hit the toilet lid every time. I learned on day one to take a half-step back and lean way forward. Holding the tank or wall for support. Now you’re positioning your body and not your dick. Worked for me.

The sitting on the toilet comments are valid also. I suggest you stand up and pee first, then sit to take a dump. Otherwise what TBT said will happen. You’ll pee and the angle will force your stream upward, over the rim, and onto your clothes and floor. I didn’t follow my own advice recently and as i sat on the can i began to pee. I leaned way forward but it was too late, i shot a puddle over the rim and onto the floor by my shoes before i could adjust. Problem was another guy was in the stall next to me. I’m sure he could see my shoes as i could see his. He probably figured i was rubbing one out and had just spooged onto the floor!

If your urinals have dividers, you should be good to go. Nobody can see that you’ve got a chubby, unless you want to show off a bit that is.

One problem i have is that when wearing my tight underwear and jockstrap to hide the bulge it also seems to distort the urethral opening a bit. Therefore, the spray pattern and dribbling can be a bit unpredictable.

When we’re all banging away happily in the near future, these little indignities will be small price to pay.

I had an Infrapubic implant done 19 days ago

I had a follow up appt w/my doc 9 days post op when he cleared me to start cycling.

I don't "work" anymore but I could have gone back to work then. That probably would have been a bit too early because of residual sorrness from the surgery but 14 days post op would have been no problem.

I took a week off, it was a bit stiff, semi erect, but was able to put tight underwear on (found RBX to be best, or bodyglove) and hold it to the side. Your gonna have a bulge, own it, your a man! There was pain, lasted about 2 months, used Tylenol and ibuprofen. In the deflated state, the folds of the tubes were the most painful. But it does get better, it will all be a distant memory when you heal up and use it as much as your wife can stand!
Good Luck, peace out.

OK so it's important to note EVERYONE is differant I was implanted just before Christmas and was lucky to have a good recovery however having an erection and being in the work place regardless of pain level is probably more to the point...

I work from home 90% of the time and still took a month off. Just said I had an operation urology and that all my sick note said. They may think kidney stone or something.

I used to feel like I was fine then go for a food shop and then 2 minutes in realise I'm doing too much too soon.
Also the amount of re arranging you do is not going to go down well in the office.

You have to lift your balls when you sit down because of the size...

I'd take 4 weeks off just to be sure and then you'll be fine hopefully.

If you want any further information or a video call to see how the new uqipment works and scaring or ask anything then pm Me. Happy to have show and tell or voice call for any questions if preferred just let me know. Welcome to the bionic brotherhood

It's important to note that the reovery time for infrapublic implants is generally less than for pensocrotal implants.

If Dr. Campbell does infrapublic implants, like my doc does, 1 wk would be when he'd approve you to begin cycling and, if all goes well, 3 wks is when he'd approve you for sex and any other activity.

That said, 1 wk is probably still to early but, as I mentioned above, assuming all goes well, 2 weeks should be enough to allow you to return to work after an infrapublic implant.

FYI, I also consulted w/a penscrotal implant surgeon before I chose to get an infrapublic implant and that doc said it would take at least 4 weeks to begin cycling and 6 weeks before I would be approved for sex and other activities.

So, the type of implant you get can also determine how quickly you feel well enough to you return to work after surgery.

Wow, thanks everyone. Lots of things to consider that I hadn't even thought of. Does anyone have anything else to add to discussion? All your responses are greatly appreciated!
