I read that most infection cases the man brought it into the ER with him. There are germs in skin. I showered and used Hibiclens soap from my chest to my knees. Do not use it one your face. I did a regular shower with dial antibacterial soap and then used the Hibiclens for another cleaning chest to knees. After showering I use alcohol wipes to wipe down my inner thigh's, penis, and testicles. It works great for me to prevent jock rash and dry things out. One doctor uses alcohol prep also. And if you do baths one doctor used to have men add a cup of bleach to the bath water and soak for 30 minutes 3 days before surgery. I don't know how much of this you will have time for. But be as clean as you can going into the hospital. I washed white cotton under ware in bleach and dried on high heat and put them in plastic baggies from the drier to protect them from picking up germs. And I used them the day of surgery and then afterwards until my incision was dry.

This is great information! May I ask how many days did you do the washing procedure pre-op? And also, did you also wash in the morning, prior to going to the hospital? Thanks.

I always shower with dial gold soap and use an alcohol wipe before putting my underwear on. The Hibiclens I used 3 days prior to surgery including the morning before I went to the hospital. I actually timed the shower as close to the hospital arrival as possible. I did soak at home in a bathtub with a cup of bleach added. The hotel did not have a bathtub so I could not do that before surgery. I just washed my clothes for the trip to the hospital in bleach and put them in zip lock bags straight from the dryer.

Out of surgery!
Actually feel pretty great.
The staff was amazing and Dr. Levine is incredible.
I woke up with some nausea for which I was promptly given some Zofran
My initial pain was at a 6. I was given Fentanyl 25mcg which quickly brought it down to a 2. Totally tolerable.
Dr. Levine came into see me and said everything went great.
As expected...my first implant was a poor fit and there was some internal adhesion that has to get dealt wirh.
He said that the blood supply and tissue that are responsible for my remaining natural engorgement we untouched so praying I will still have that once healed.
Because of the extra work that was done I was sent home with a drain which will get removed by him in his office tomorrow.
He also went out and spoke to my wife at length while I was in recovery.
His bedside manor is absolutely fantastic!
Once I was able to urinate a little I was discharged with script for Norco (which I am 99% sure I will not need) and Keflex (antibiotic) Urination has been quite unpleasant. The pain is like 6 out of 10 when urinating.
I honestly feel great. I am well wrapped up with the drain and my legs up laying in bed.
While at rest I have literally no pain. When walking to and from the bathroom my pain is like maybe a 1.5 or 2. Not even enough for a motrin honestly.
This has been a fantastic smooth experience so far!

Motrin helps with swelling also and why I was told to use it. Ice packs will help for the first few days with swelling also. And staying as flat as you can as much as you can for the same few days.

You have a good doctor just follow the instructions he gave you. Happy things are going well. My repair recovery was much easier and I had trouble taking it easy.

Saw Dr. Levine (gosh I love this guy, such an awesome doctor) and had my drain removed and quick follow up.
Everything looks great. He feels my healthy tissue was spared dispite having to properly size me. My first implant done by another Doctor 26 years ago was not only too short but poorly placed.
I literally have no pain while at rest. Like a 1/10 when walking.
Urinating is way better. 2/10
I have an appointment for a month to being cycling.
Have to wait another couple days to shower and no working out for a couple weeks. I am not the most patient guy in the world but most assuredly don't want to derail what has been a fantastic experience so far.
I truly am super optimistic and incredibly pleased.
Dr. Levine is amazing.

Day 3:
First shower today! Felt absolutely wonderful!
I did wake up this morning with some natural engorgement which was slightly uncomfortable in the glans....but was pleased to see.
There is no pain at all while at rest.
Pain while walking is a 1 on a 0-10 scale and thankfully urinating is basically pain free.
There is some significant bruising under my scrotum.
Once all the bandages were off I was surprised at how low and posterior the pump location is behind my testicles in my scrotum. It is definitely stealth mode now.
My previous implant was implanted infrapubic so my previous pump rode very high and on the right side.
After the shower I covered the incision as was instructed with some antibacterial ointment and no stick gauze. I took a pair of underwear and cut a hole for my penis to come out and am using the underwear to hold the gauze in place which is working beautifully.
I am wearing a pair or loose boxers over and then some loose shorts and am very comfortable.
I am having some numbness in my scrotum and m
the first half of my penis....I am hoping that goes away soon.
So a super smooth recovery so far.

No pain at all while at rest or while urinating.
Pain at a 1 while walking.
Again woke with some morning engorgement which was slightly uncomfortable at the glans.
Definitely some swelling in my scrotum. Will have to adjust to feeling of the pump in the new location. Deep at the bottom of my scrotum and posterior to my testicles.

Is there a reason why Dr. Levine cut into your scrotum horizontally rather than vertically? Everything I've read, seen and experienced myself is a vertical cut along what many men, myself included, could identify as sort of a 'seam' in their nutbag down the middle. A vertical incision will hide the scar.

I'm interested as to why your incision is horizontal, any idea? Was it to facilitate removal of the first implant?
