Greetings,
This week I was introduced to injection therapy after finding poor results with oral & MUSE. My Uro started with Alpostadil He gave me what he called a "half dose" to baseline me. I believe it was .5 cc. I did get a response but not full rigidity . Instructions say to begin & .6 cc & increase as needed. Is this typical dosing practices when starting out? Other question involves syringes. What he used on me was tolerable but I forgot to ask the size. When I filled my script the pharm provided me with 27 G / 1/2 " needles. Being new & injecting for the first time soon do you experienced guys recommend I use these to avoid bending/breaking/missing the mark or should I invest in another size syringe?

Re: New to injections
.5 cc seems too large for a starting dose. He probably injected 5 units or .05cc. Most syringes are marked off in units (100 units in a cc) I was started at 30 units and told to increase by 5 units until the desired effect was achieved.
The most commonly sized needle for penile injections is the 30g x 1/2". However, a lot of guys go for the 31g x 3/8" needles to reduce the "sting". I personally have experienced several bent 31 g needles.

Hi Trucx
I`m a relative newcomer as well, so I`m learning all the time. I find the different ways of measuring dosage to be quite confusing, but I`m using Alprostadil in Caverject, which comes as a vial of powder into which you mix the 1 ml of liquid which comes in the syringe with the "kit". You get the same amount of fluid irrespective of the amount of Alprostadil powder, which makes it easier for me to work out. I`m told that the usual starting dose is 2.5mcg of the powder. I buy 1 ml syringes so that you can be more precise on the amount that you are injecting - and I use 30g x 1/2" needles. I think 27 g needles is a bit over the top.
Incidentally, I find that lower dosages are more effective if used with a tablet of Sildenafil/Viagra rather than simply on their own.

I like the 30 gauge just be careful and inject it at the right angle. I been doing it for over 15 years never had a problem. 27 0r 28 is ok just sting a little more. Good luck!

Hey all,
Since I started this topic I now have all of 4 or 5 injections in me. I'm square on needles now, will use up the 27's n invest in some 30's.I'm up to 0.8 cc with 1.0 cc the max dose. I wasn't aware I could mix shots and orals , may try 25 mg Viagra am see if I can reduce shot dosage.
