Reservoir pain post surgery

Postby Daytripper » Sat Apr 22, 2023 7:24 pm

Friends Im 17 days post surgery and haven started to experience painful stabbing sensations in the reservoir area when moving around the house, not assiciated with lifting just movements like walking up porch steps or rising from a seated position. I've been having daily discomfort, area feels tight and sore there but today it crossed over to the pain threshold. My new reservoir was placed in the right paravesical space (low on the abdomen below the belt line). Anyone else go through this experience?

I have had zero pain at my reservoir site, honestly I'd have to look at surgical notes to even know where they placed it.

Keep in mind if penis is inflated, the reservoir is empty (smaller) and if flaccid then it's full (bigger), if you've started cycling recently it may be stretching/formation of surgical capsule.

I would suggest calling doctor and ask him for an opinion though-- "stabbing pain" isn't generally a good sign surgically. Ache, throb, burning, soreness... sure, stabbing, not as often.

I've havent been cleared for cycling, still 3 wks away so I dont think the reservoir is stretching.

I have pain where the reservoir is located around the incision area. I am 4 days post op. I have a lot of pain there and around the bellybutton. It is like someone punched me in the stomach.

I've also had zero pain in the reservoir area.
I even had to ask my doctor where it was.
All my pain has been in my scrotum, shaft and around the glans.

I'd definitely contact my doctor if I were you.

Do you have a drainage tube? Dr Taj had me place a heavy weight on my reservoir area a few times a day while the drainage tube was in. In fact he sent me home from the hospital with a bag filled with water..
he said the weight would help with the drainage.
I don’t remember pain in the reservoir area.

I had stabbing pain in the reservior area. It was at its worst immediately postop and slowly got better. After a few months I didn't have any pain in the area at all. I think this is unique to folks with the intraabdominal reservor placement.

Pain in reservoir area 17 days post op is not normal. I would advise to see your doctor.

No drainage tube, actually the swelling is much less than the first few days and the scrotum is feeling ok, still some discomfort but no pain in that area.

Yes this is what I was thinking too intraadominal reservoir placement seems to create more trauma since more tissue is disturbed, I also think I brought this on by not taking it easy and trying to do too much too soon.
