AMS 700 Deflate

Postby RugbyDave » Thu Aug 29, 2013 1:32 am

I've had my LGX700 for coming up to 5 weeks now and all is going well according to the nurse.

My problem, I still can't locate the deflate button properly. I can feel about half of it - I think and I know it works ok because the nurse has inflated and deflated me a couple of times.

Any suggestions on technique because as nice as she is I don't really want to go back and see her for a third time.

Do you have the "key ring pump" which is a plastic replica of the pump that is in your scrotum. Usually the doc gives you this shortly after surgery. You can look use this to see exactly what the pump looks like and where the button is. And you can also get the feel of all the parts. One other guy suggested you drape a thin cloth over it to replicate the skin of your scrotum so you can feel exactly what you should feel in your body, but peek inside to see if you are feeling the pump. If you don't have the "key ring pump" you might ask your doc for it. I am sure it only costs AMS a few dollars to make it as it is not a real pump, just a demo.

The second suggestion is that when I was first finding the parts, I did it in my spa which is full of warm water. I found that in there my testicles floated up out of the way so I could feel the pump much easier. That allowed me to determine eactly which way it was oriented and where the deflate button was. If you don't have a spa available, a bathtub with 8 or 10 inches of warm water should provide the similar place to do it. Once I became sure of where all the parts were in the spa it was much easier to find them when not in the spa. Also I knew that if I got pumped up and could not find the deflate button, I could always jump in the spa to locate it. I never needed to do that though.

Once you find everything and practice a few times it will become like second nature to operate the pump.

I was having that problem but somehow managing to get it deflated .... was at URO office Friday a week ago and learned that the button was facing the side rather than front or back as I had thought. He said to hold the button down until it was completely deflated rather than press and release. That bit of info has helped although I still don't have a real positive feel of the button. I wonder if I might have some scare tissue around it.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried the warm bath to get everything loose and although I can sometimes feel something like a button I am not sure if it's the right spot, mainly because it is covered in for want of a better word, mush. The whole pump unit also seems quite high (above and behind the boys) although saying that the uro nurse seems to inflate and deflate easily (years of practise I presume).

I am seeing her in a couple of days to have another go. Is the deflate easier to find when it's inflated?

I am not sure if it makes a difference but I am not inflating to try and find the deflate because I dont want to be stuck hard for a few days. I willl keep you posted.

Once you have done the deflate button yourself, you will see how easy it is to find and your confidence in finding it will be about 98%. After you do it a few more times it will be as easy to do as turning off a light switch.

Since you have uncertainty, I suggest that the first time you pump yourself, you do it during office hours of your doc. That way if you should not be able to find it, you can put on some loose fitting pants and go to the doc's office to let them help you find it. The chances are very small you will need to do that but it will relieve the concern to know you have a "Plan B".

Or if you will soon have a session where the doc or his nurse teaches you how to pump, be sure that they let you do the deflate.
