My first URO visit today

Postby Mike Zee » Wed Aug 28, 2013 12:57 pm

Finally went for my first visit to URO to see about injection therapy. Lengthy talk then straight to the prostate exam. Everything OK...

Next move was to have nurse inject my butt cheek with testosterone shot.

Then Doc pulled out the needle for my first injection. He assured me it wouldn't hurt. In fact, the testosterone shot hurt more! He then instructed me to squeeze tightly around the base of my penis for 2-3 minutes. He left the room and came back about 15 minutes later.

I did have a reaction. Old Charlie started to swell up and lengthen. I started to feel a dull ache in my penis (not bad) and I stroked it a little to see what it felt like to be something other than "squishy" soft.

Doctor looked at it and said: "Not good enough. We can do better." He also told me he had given me a starter dosage, very minimal. Next visit we will increase the dosage and I will get a prescription for syringes and medication.

Although I left with only a partial erection...I now have hope...

Hey Mike,

I just started injections & that's how it started for me except after the first in office shot ( half dose) I was freed to fill script with recommended dose levels & to raise as needed. I'm guessing your on Alprostadil / Prostiglandin PGE1 by the ache. It's normal & I find it manageable. Dr's half dose response was like yours but when I started at .6 cc & up I saw a big difference. ( 0.9 cc gave me 2 hr erection with 2 orgasms ). This therapy works head n shoulders better than oral meds, congrats cause you got your sex life back , me too.

Truckx, I think my Doc said he injected 3cc. My concern was the dull ache. I also experienced an increased sensitivity in the head of the penis. This sensitivity made me wonder if vigorous sex would include any pain.

If this dull ache is normal, will it be over-ridden by the pleasure of returning to vaginal sex?

Besides being over-weight, (not too bad for a 57 year old man), I am quite active in my job, as well as being an active outdoorsman enjoying fishing and duck hunting. All requiring physical activity.

To any posters reading this: Could the dull ache be due to tissues in my penis being stretched out for the first time in months? Curious...

Mike,

There must be some sort of 2-D chart you could make concerning say Achiness on the X-axis and Hardness (or amount of injection) on the Y-axis.

Increasing injection amount might show some kind of 45-degree slope ?

The more you inject the harder you get the more ache you will get.

I know for me with PGE-1 at .20 ml I get a good hard for an hour without much ache. Going to .25ml gives 2+ hr of hard and quite a bit of annoying ache. So much so that the tightness of her pussy squeezing or too much squeeze with a hand is enough to cause more annoying ache that I care to have (especially around the glans where the nerves are most sensitive).

So lets hope you stay behind/below the achiness curve and get the hardness you need for the time you want without excessive ache.

And if you doon't do well then just go for Trimix or Bimix as a less-ache alternative.

OK, so my next visit to the URO is for Sept. 11. After my initial visit with somewhat hopeful results with a minimum dose...Should I be ready to experience a "full woody" after an increased injection?

I would like to alert my wife to "meet me for lunch" at home, since my appointment is at 10:30 am. That should have me leaving the office at approximately 11:30 am. With a successful erection I should be "good to go" until 1:30...

Any advice?

From what I've learned, I don't think it's possible to predict anything. Way too many variables. :(

@ Mike,

Sensitivity - you know when you first orgasm how the head is sensitive ? Yeah its like that but even more so till the erection subsides. As far as pain goes I read somewhere the ache is a chemical reaction happening. I have noticed when I pump & stretch I also get this feeling though. I agree with the other posters remark about things not always being predictable. Example - I use MUSE as well ( same PGE 1) and ache has been bad some days & not noticeable others. My partner is out of State so I'm waiting for her return to see how the injection experience actually plays out " in combat" but I see no issues , the product indeed works :)

Let me add another comment.

My uro's sweet young assistant gave me 5 units for the initial shot. It gave me something less than a half erection, so she said to try it at home with 10 units. A few days later I did and the thing got hard as granite and didn't go down for five painful hours (first 2 hours were okay). I took Sudafed as directed but they didn't do squat. But the uro's sheet never specified to use fast-acting. I had bought timed-release because I didn't know any different, and they didn't work.

After dropping to 3 units the next time upon her advice, I worked my way back up to 6 units which is what I'm still using now.

I posted the story on here somewhere and will dig it out if you want to read it.
