I' found this site from a link on HealingWell prostate cancer forum . Few months ago I was a 55 y/o happy go lucky guy til I went to my annual physical and was DX with prostate cancer, eventually settled on robotic surgery performed in early June. While I was made aware of the potential side effects , having never suffered from ED I kinda thought I'd make out ok. Well as of now four months out, I feel great, just like I did prior to surgery except for one thing, ED. So here I am

Rich...
THERE IS HELP AND HOPE !!!
Your urologist will likely take you through the steps to a great erection. It may take some time, but hang in there.
Usual Steps:
1 Pills Viagra, Levitra, Cialis
2 Penis Pump (aka Vacuum Erection Device or VED)
3 Injections Muse, Caverject, Edex, or (My favorite, TRIMIX)
4 Penile Implant
there are other modalities, but the above are probably the most common

Rich,
Here is a good place to start: Penile Rehabilitation After Cancer Treatment -- Sloan-Kettering

What steps has your URO advised so far? (pills, pump, injection, etc.)

Hello I had prostate nerve sparring surgery over 2 years ago. The only thing that worked were injections and they gave me too much pain. I had the Ams implant
4 weeks ago I started pumping it 1 week ago I still have pain in the cylinder area I m wondering how long I should expect to have pain I realize everybody is different but i would like to hear from others experience. I also have lost size The implant uses was suppose to add length and girth Will this come later? I appreciate and comments

Please explain "pain in the cylinder area" ... is this pain all the time, or only when you pump?
I also have lost size The implant uses was suppose to add length and girth
It takes generally well over 6 months to achieve the desired results ... Were you implanted with the LGX or CX, or Titan device? Lost size is usually attributed to pre-existing conditions ... tissue atrophy (from lack of regular erections) or scar tissue/plaque.
Are you pumping your implant on a daily basis? (you should be ... at least an hour per day)

Re: Hello, another newbie to the forum
Thank you for the replies The pain in the cylinder area is all the time mostly to touch It is not bad enough to take meds. I assume since it
has only been 4 1/2 weeks It will get better in time. The unit is the LGX I am pumping 2 times a day but only 25 pumps then deflating right after pumping
Should I be doing something different Thanks again

Re: Hello, another newbie to the forum
I was instructed to inflate my LGX as fully and as long as I am able to tolerate it. I pump it until I can get no more give from the pump using both hands and try to keep it inflated thus at least an hour per day.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.
Re: Hello, another newbie to the forum
Hello from Rob. I found this site by searching for information on the internet. I'm challenged in several areas. First, though not the most serious challenge is that I am new to the forum and somewhat technically lacking. I hope this is the proper way to post. I hit reply, not finding a "post" feature.
Next, I have been working on ED pretty much my entire adult life if I think back on my history. I have been frustrated by not being able to pinpoint the issues which I suspect are co-mingled. I suspect the ED problem is largely psychological but may or may not be combined with a physical issue.
Intimacy seems to be the former problem. Low libido or something else (?) seems to be the latter. I wish I could be more clear but maybe I need to find the proper forum first.

Two times a day is fine ... however pump until it just starts to feel uncomfortable ... wait a while, then add a pump or two. Leave it pumped up for an hour or so ... as it takes time to stretch your penis and it also takes time for the cylinders to stretch.
If the glans (head) feels cold ... use a rice sock. Fill an old sock 3/4 full with rice, ties the end off ... place in microwave for 60 sec. or so. Then wrap the sock around the glans ... repeat as needed. The extra warmth makes a big difference in the "stretch" ... It will take up to 6 months to achieve your gains.

Re: Hello, another newbie to the forum
Interesting the difference between docs -- my doc "laid down the law" and said not to fool with my AMS until after my 6-week follow up. He left my cylinders partially filled so I have a semi-hard-on all the time, but I've followed his directions and not pumped at all. I'm coming up to 4 weeks post-op. As it turns out due to travel, I won't see him until nearly 7 weeks!
