I think the "taking off after 20 minutes" applies if you're using a very tight constriction ring to maintain an erection when using a VED only for an erection suitable for penetration without injection. The test would be if your penis is getting cold, then remove after 20 or 30 minutes for sure. A ring used in conjunction with injections should be stretchy and easily removed while erect and your penis should remain warm while in place. This type of soft stretchy ring would not be tight enough to maintain much of an erection if just pumping with a VED, but does help with firmness (if needed) when injecting.
