UK Best surgeon and/or NHS

Postby Blippo » Mon Jul 31, 2023 9:33 am

This has probably been asked before so it so, apologies.

I'm just wondering who the best UK surgeon may be? Dr Ralph?

Is it best to go private or is the NHS okay for a good result too?

Can you be referred to Dr. Ralph on the NHS?

And cost? Quite surprised (not pleasantly) to see figures of 24k for surgery in USA and Europe. Is it that dear in the UK too?

I saw Ralph privately but got my doc to refer me to him at uclh through national health.
After consultation with him it took about 6 months.
But I got Titan installed for £0 and it's great, wish I had done it sooner

I am in the process of going the NHS route.

I have created a thread here that is just about my ongoing process, which might help --

You can definitely be referred to UCLH, as the NHS cannot refuse your choice (they state this). Your GP can do this referral.

PaulPaul gave me some advice, and I followed that and got the referral.

Hope that helps a bit!

Brilliant and much appreciated. Thank you both very much.

Have you any indication at all.of how long you will have to wait? The NHS sometimes gives time limit? Or at least an aim of maxum waiting time!

One other point I would mention after reading other threads.
If you have it done on nhs, if there are any problems they will take care of it free of charge.
If it gets infected they will take it out and put a malleable in. Then after a period of time out you another implant in.
Cost £0
Think about it

That's good to know. Thanks

I also used Prof Ralph. Went private though.
Cannot reccommend him enough. Dreading the day he retires... I hope he is training someone to take over when he decides to take life a bit more easy haha!

Hi Patrick,

We're a similar age (I'm 36), also UK.

I wonder how you are getting on.

I had a skim of your profile comments, you were implanted a similar time.

You don't have glans engorgement?

I have LGX, installed mid 2021, venous leak. I use a cock ring to provide glans engorgement, and it works well. HAve you tried this? You have to be careful not to trap the tubing underneath, that's the only issue really.

How are things in general after a couple of years with an implant?
Implanted with AMS 700 lgx, 2021.

Thanks for all replies.

How old is Dr Ralph? Any suggestions he is retiring soon?

How much was privately?

Any other UK surgeon recommended?
