At the advice of my Doctor, I had an appointment today with a pump sales person. Guy was real cool...asked a lot of questions...and seemed really interested in my problem.
He told me the benefits of pumping..even though I just started injection therapy. He told me that in three years of working for the company, he had helped men from 40 to 93 "get back in the game." Obviously..I was skeptical.
Told me a story of a Preacher (71) who lost his wife to cancer. Devastated by her passing he lost all desire for sex. After 10 years, his neighbor (female) became quite friendly and wanted "to play". Claimed the pump brought him back.
Unit was extremely expensive (485.00) but he insisted insurance would pick up 80% of the tab. If I didn't have success within 30 days, he would schedule another appointment where he would try out the unit on me to confirm I was doing it right. Otherwise he would give a full refund.
Any thoughts?

Re: Todays introduction to pumps
I have been using a pump for about four years. When Viagra became no longer effective, I switched to pumping. I used a quality "sex shop" pump system with a vacuume gauge for both pumping up for sex as well as physical therapy (check out the Physical Therory Forum). I started using a "medical grade" pump about six months ago as an alternative to injecting in order to reduce the risk of scar tissue formation. I also sometimes have to revert to the pump when an injection for some reason does not prove effective.
On the positive side, pumping generates a slightly thicker erection.
On the negative side, a pumped erection maintained by a constriction band tends to become insensitive/numb after 15 minutes or so and the constriction needs to be removed after about 20 minutes to avoid problems. Ejaculation is also more difficult with a constriction band on.

Mike $485.00 sounds like a lot of money. I bought the Encore pump with manual and electric pumps for $125.00 and it works great. However you can't just pump yourself up and expect great results, you need to practice for a week or two and establish a routine to get penis use to pumping.
When I first started pumping I was disappointed with the results using the info that came with the Encore pump. After researching this site I found a procedure that real works for me.
The routine is pump and hold for one minute at low pressure, release pressure and repeat at a slightly higher pressure, do this 5 times. Then pump for 5 minutes at the higher pressure and repeat this 3 times each time increasing the pressure. Also when you get a firm erection ( I mean firm) mark the tube so you have a benchmark on when to stop pumping. Normally when I have sex we neck for a while and then I pump, it takes 1 to 2 minutes two get firm.
Other things you should know the pump will increase your girth both base and head so you may need to use more lubricant. I have discovered that constriction ring size and penis size have no correlation. My pumped up penis girth is 6 inches at the base but in order to maintain a erection for 12 to 15 minutes I use two rings and the foam sleeve. I use the two smallest rings that come with the Encore system and with the Osbon rings I use the small C and D rings. Believe me when you have a large girth it takes several attempts until you will use rings that small. Also the foam sleeve eliminates the problem of the your balls being sucked up in the tube and when using the small rings it feels much better to have the foam as a cushion.
As dtwarren1942 stated with the tight rings I do not ejaculation until the rings are removed. I have not noticed my penis becoming numb after 15 or 20 minutes but it does get cold, so it is best to have intercourse within 10 minutes of pumping. The wife is not found of the cold penis but she has no problem having intercourse using the pumping procedure.
I know the problems and time it takes to master a penis pump but keep trying it real works.

Thanks for the advice. Until my insurance approves the pump, I'll just be guessing what will happen.
Injections do help some, but I have very little feeling and can't orgasm, without oral stimulation. Fortunately for me my wife has been very understanding.
I can't imagine that a pump could "bring me back in the game."

Beware the sales pitch. The guy I listened to was as bad as any used-car salesman. And a buddy of mine went through the same thing. There is -- apparently -- huge money in this. The FDA-approved models are two to three times as much as non-approved, and if insurance covers it, then the consumer is insulated from the inflated price and the sales people laugh all the way to the bank.
They know that if your insurance pays for most of it, even if you don't like it you probably won't bother returning it.
If it's electric you won't be able to use it while showering, which I find a very handy way of doing two things at once. What I do is pump up, then brush my teeth, then maybe get clean clothes out, then shower. That kills a good 15 minutes or so. That's 15 minutes I don't have to set aside just for pumping. I usually pump while doing the supper dishes too, lol, so far nobody has walked up on my porch and seen me through the window. But I don't really care anymore so piss on them.

RP in 2012 because of prostate cancer. 100% ED, also some leakage problems.
