Trimix Dilemma
Been injecting Trimix 30/1/10 for roughly 6 months now and somewhat frustrated. I am 39 and have dealt with venous leak and weak erections my entire adult life. The pills were okay for a while until they weren’t and I asked my uro for Trimix out of desperation. While I have had some amazing sex with the drug I am slowly becoming frustrated due to the fact that no matter how many units I inject my erection still isn’t rock hard (I can move it around and slightly bend it) and always lasts way too long. So I suffer through the injection and get a somewhat weak erection that I always have to knock down with Phenylephrine injection afterwards. I don’t want to get an implant at my age and worry about losing length that I don’t have to lose. I have tried using basic cock rings that might help ever so slightly but I don’t know what to think at this point. Anyone else been down a similar path? Is there a concern the Phenylephrine will stop working at some point? It’s always in the back of my mind that since I always use Phenylephrine anyways I could slightly increase my dose but not sure that will result in better erections?

Re: Trimix Dilemma
I had the same problem.
Trimix Worked great for me for 8 years
When I first started with Trimix, my uro told me I would eventually need an implant.

Started with Viagra at age 40. Worked good for about 12 years.
Tried Trimix injections, worked great for about 8 years
Now Trimix no longer works.
I got implant on Oct 26th 2022.

Re: Trimix Dilemma
I've just never heard of Trimix to stop working after 8 months, many people use Trimix from 10 to 30 years and usually stop because of the hassle of injections and move to implants. Maybe you should try switching to a stronger formula as this may help do the trick.

Maybe I didn’t phrase things correctly - Trimix has not become less effective in 6 months. It has always worked it’s just never worked great IMO. If I had to put a number to my firmness I’d say 6-7 out of 10. My prescription is for 10 units but I typically use 14-16 units which lasts 3-4 hours+ every time so I’ll usually just knock it down with Phenylephrine after we get through so I can go on with my life. If I knew increasing the dose or strength would increase firmness I would try it but it’s already lasting way too long. Just feel hopeless at this point of ever having a really great erection unless I get the implant and not sure how I feel about that.

I'd say the cock ring really does sound like it would help and maybe a stronger formula as your current one does seem pretty week.

Here's a PDF from a pharmacy that no longer does human compounding. They just do veterinary compounding now. But the PDF is good, or seems so to me: http://www.wedgewoodpharmacy.com/uploads/ED%20Switching%20Guide.pdf
It should give you an idea where to go with your mix. Based on the information you provided in your post and the information in the PDF my assumption is as follows: It would seem your mix should be further reduced in it's amount of Papaverine and increased in the amount of PGE1 (alprostadil). I have no idea how much to increase or decrease the components. Hopefully your doctor is interested enough to help you figure out the correct mix. Keep in mind that I'm just making wild layman assumptions and I have no medical credentials and little knowledge.
I'd be a little concerned about what sounds like frequent use of the Phenylephrine injections. I don't use them but I'd make sure such regular use is safe. Do you really need them that often or is it more convenience?
And yeah, keep experimenting with the rings. It can take awhile to find the ones that are right for you.
Good luck.

Re: Trimix Dilemma
some things i dont understand. if its not as hard as you want it then why the need for the injection to put it down? i mean if its that weak, why would it hang around so long that you would need to use the antidote? ive been using for 18 months everytime i have used it i have been able to move it and bend it slightly as you say. for me its not a rock hard erection but its more than enough for penetration and it lasts 3-4 hours. i can tell now when it starts to lose hardness towards the 2-3 hour mark. i found that trimix, for me anyway, has made me less sensitive to where it feels like its not hard but when i put my hand on it, its plenty hard enough for penetration. i have also not had the need for the antidote, good thing because i never got it. i have taken sudafed out of fear near the 3 hour mark but most times have not really needed it. hopefully the doc will help you with the mix.
50+ yrs old. married 25+ years. hypothyroid, on TRT. 10+ years ED, viagra, cialis now 50% ineffective. now on trimix 2MG phentolamine/30MG papaverine/20MCG alprostadil

Thanks a lot for this PDF. I called my pharmacist today and he said we could try a 15/1/30 mix instead of the 30/1/10 which would focus more on the firmness and should shorten the duration. We will see what happens if I can go my urologist to approve it.
He did say there should be no issues using the Phenylephrine other than the inconvenience of more injections.

You are correct in saying it doesn’t feel like a hard erection without feeling it. It’s most definitely hard enough for sex which I guess is much better than the alternative, however, everyone talks about injections and dialing in their mix and having these great erections and I don’t feel that. If I am on top there’s no issue it’s great but if I get behind or she is on top I can feel it bending and it makes things more difficult. I am hopeful there is an answer out there to make improvements to erection quality while either maintaining the same duration or possibly shortening it.
