New to the pump.

Hello all. I can use some advice.

Had RP 11 months ago. Nerve sparing. I am 55. Was told everything looked good and it may take 2 ears for an erection. as of now i have nothing, nada. I just purchased a VED through insurance. an IMPOAID pump. Tried it a few times, getting nothing. There definitely is suction. Following directions. I have not shaven..i put a rubber ring over penis and be sure tube is on thagt and away we go. I havent left it on for more than 4 minutes as it said i shoukd have an erection in 3? truth is i have no idae what I am doing. I read about gus having a n erection in 30 seconds...After 3 minutes i have essentially nothing. It has 1 speed, no digital reading or suction levels. I just want an erection , get this thig working. I hate viagra as it does nothig but make my herad feel really uncomfortable and weird. Any adviice , Im at a loss.

Welcome to the forum. I would first say be patient. Use plenty of lube all over your penis. Especially at the base. Also you should trim or shave public hair. You have to have a tight seal between the tube and the base of your penis. I'm sure some other members will jump in with more advice. Take your time you'll get the hang of it.

If you can take a smaller more tolerable dose of Viagra give it a try. Take it 40 minutes before trying to pump. Also try some erotic stimulation by some method. Sexy thoughts, help from wife (visual and or verbal encouragement as in a show and or dirty talk or even playing with your dick and helping) or porn if necessary. It will help. I have difficulty pumping unless I do one or more of those things. The suction alone from the pump tries but it's like the valves in my dick are closed. The erotic stimulation by, whatever means, seems to tell the valves that it's ok to open and let the pump pull blood in. The Viagra helps too.

Lube and some manscaping are necessary and absolutely necessary if you plan to use silicone constriction rings after you get pumped up. Shaving isn't necessary but some of that hair needs to go. Take my word for it or let experience be your teacher. Silicone rings and hair don't get along well. Pain is involved!

I use the same brand of pump. Before even thinking of using rings, the first task is getting vacuum while your penis is in the pump. A good seal between the pump and you is necessary for achieving and keeping a vacuum. I can feel the seal after a pump or two. Once you get the seal, proceed slowly especially at first. You have to give your dick time to react to the vacuum.


As previously mentioned by others, a good trim or shave can help achieve vacuum. Use of a PDE-5 can make things easier.
Are you using the manual or the battery pump?

Sorry for your surgery man. Sounds like we use the same equipment.
I go for 20 minutes once a week or so. I don’t shave down there. The trick is loose the ring and use a a good amount of thicker hand cream, like goldbond around the base of ved, of course lube up the penis to w lube. Then give it some push pressure when ingaging the vac. This helps to seal around the public hair. You will feel the pull- works great

I have been pumping for over ten years. My good Soma electric Pump broke about six months ago so I am now using my back-up, the ImpoAid. Though my dick is well conditioned, I need to pump at least 15 to 20 times in order to get a decent erection. I also usually pump up to 30 times or more to obtain an optimal erection. I also use two Osbon constriction band instead of the ones supplied.

Hey Guys. Thanks for the answers. Few more questions...So I have this rubber ring...sort of what you use to open a jar, that goes over my dick so i can get a good seal tween the rubber to the tube. Is that ok or should i still shave there? Also how long can i pump? Have that thing pumping for 30 minutes? The most i did was 4 minutes with next to no results. So how long shoukld i leave the pump on my dick? Appreciate all of this. wanna get this thing working..my pecker...and just dont want to do something wrong as the directions say 2 to 3 minutes. I only have time to answer this first easier question. The answer is....Whatever works! If you're not using the constriction rings to hold the erection then you shouldn't have the painful hair pulling issue. If you rubber seal works then no need to go any farther. If it still won't seal then you're going to have to try trimming or lots of lube. Probably easier to just get a beard trimmer of a trimmer made for the task and just shorten things up until it works. No need to shave.

Ok, Let's go with that. Are you using the manual or electric pump?

Using the manual, after you feel the seal, pump about 10 times and wait a couple of minutes. Pump another 10-15 times and again wait a few minutes. Do this until you are fully erect or start to feel discomfort. At that point, release the vacuum, count to 10 and repeat the pumping procedure.

Using the electric, after the pump has sealed and the electric is pumping count to 10 or 20, stop, wait a few minutes and start again repeating the count and wait. Again do this until you are fully erect or feel some discomfort. Release the vacuum and repeat the procedure a few times.

Looking at a few Encore pumps(battery and manual) I see they include a body shield. Could that be the ring you are using? When I first started using a pump I had more difficulty using the enclosed shield than I did w/o it. Maybe others have had better luck?

Thanks Everyone. The pump is betery powered. I use the "shield"..i feel no suction. I have only went 4 minutes straight. oes the lube go at the end of the tube where it touches my skin? Even if I use the ring? How long shall i pump ? Just unsure whats up. Guess I can try to shave, get ri of the ring? Sorry to be such a novice here.
