Hello Everyone,
Quick background - I'm 47 and was diagnosed with low testosterone at age 36 which brought on ED as well. Been on testosterone injections ever since and they did help the ED some in the beginning. Over time ED got progressively worse as I moved through the gamut of pills and trimix. Trimix is really hit or miss, but even the hits are weak. You know how it is.
After a year or so researching FT, I finally got the nerve to look into implant about a year ago. My employer's insurance under Cigna denied me due to written exclusion for penile implants for my 11/1/23 surgery. March of this year, I resigned and went self-employed. I called me Doctor's office and tried to determine what insurances in the Marketplace/Obamacare would have the great potential to cover the implant. We agreed on Baylor Scott and White and it was the best for my family anyway. Go through process again to get implant approved with BSW and they denied me! This time though I reached out to AMS hotline and they helped me look over denial letter, benefits, and evidence of coverage and nothing showed penile implants as an exclusion. So, I followed what AMS said to do in writing my appeal letter and low and behold BSW changed everything to approved about 3 weeks ago. Hopefully this give some guys hope on the insurance coverage rollercoaster. Let me know if you have any questions here.
So my big bionic day is 7/23/24. I am in West Texas and closest high volume doctor I could go to that was within driving distance was Dr. Allan Morey. Recently Dr. Morey quit being a professor at University of Texas Southwestern and went to Urology Clinics of North Texas. I feel good about Dr. Morey especially since he is out of teaching students - Seems the consensus at FT is that when you went to Dr. Morey as a professor you got one of his students doing the procedure with less than stellar results. So I am very glad it will Dr. Morey doing the procedure and not a student.
Now for a few questions that I plan to ask Dr. Morey this week before my surgery but thought I would ask the same here for patient perspectives. The plan is for him to implant me with an AMS CX with the new Tenacio pump. In my last examine - Dr Morey said he I most likely end up with about 21cm which I am good with since that seems to fit range for my current 6 incher when trimix hits right.
1. So how close are the Docs on size based on visual exam?
2. Dr. Morey said that the LX is really false marketing on length extension - all it does is decrease the flaccid state in his experience and makes for a less rigid erection along with less girth compared to CX - Does that sound about right?
3. I am what most would say above average in fitness - been racing and training on bicycles since I got in shape about 11 years ago. I have always healed very fast from surgeries (3 knee surgeries, cubital and carpel tunnel release on both hands/arms) due to my fitness and eating habits. I know this is totally different, but what is the soonest I can start endurance training again on the spin bike or rowing machine? Is is a hard 6 weeks or is it different for everyone?
I have an endurance MTB race in November and it is killing me to loose fitness while recovering. I had originally tried to get this all done at a better time, but with the denials, I have to jump on it asasp.
4. Does anyone have any experience with the new Tenacio pumps? Anyone go to that in a revision from the MS pumps?
5. Can anyone give me more recent feedback on Dr. Morey? Like the past year? He is AMS Center of Excellence certified and his nurse said he is doing roughly 20 implants a week.
6. Lastly, I believe Dr. Morey does penoscrotal? Is this a good thing since I like to cycle so much? so he can better place the pump?
Thanks for taking the time to read and maybe respond!

Re: A couple questions going into big day on 7/23/24
I can vouch for when the dr. you are going to for your surgery is a "teaching" dr. in a teaching hospital you really do not know who is cutting on you, and when you complain as I did after the fact your told they were in charge of my care from beginning to end. That's not quite the same as saying I did your surgery and I'm happy with your results. My trust in dr's and the medical profession since starting this implant surgery has soured for sure.
Re: A couple questions going into big day on 7/23/24
I am in Texas. I actually was going to have mine done at Scott & White in Temple by Erin Bird. It was critical (due to having hit my out of pocket cap for 3019) that I get done before end of year. There was a scheduling problem and I ended up getting done by Bryan Kansas in Austin.
My recovery was remarkable in that it was unremarkable. They installed implant. I was bruised & sore but no really bad pain. I cycled, got my size back and have never looked back.
I can agree with Dr. Morey that the LGX is clever marketing but I disagree with his remarks about rigidity/stability/hardness. Yes the LGX results in a somewhat smaller flaccid. The truth is the LGX more closely emulates the OEM dick than any other product. I’ve got the LGX. There is nothing wrong with my stability or rigidity.
I know for a fact that my actual surgeon was my actual surgeon. On my first follow up on day 3 I was griping, asking who was the ham handed son of a bitch who did my catheter? My urethra felt like hamburger meat exposed to battery acid. The surgeon fessed up, that in addition to making me bionic he had passed the catheter. Doc, don’t quit your day job.
I am generally a real fan of Scott&White (they were much better before the Baylor merger) but I have nothing but good to say about Urology Austin. If I ever have to have a revision I would let him do it, although I would have to consider going to Houston and getting done by Clavell.

Age 68. Physically fit educated red neck in Texas. Very married. 23 cm (18+5) of LGX installed by Dr. Bryan Kansas 12/31/2019. I fought the ED and my wife & I won. I’m either full of shit or sound advice. You decide which.

I think the 6 week mark is a good rule of thumb for working out, everyone heals differently but even if you feel great at 4 weeks, i wouldn’t have felt comfortable lifting heavy at 4 weeks. I started golfing around the 3-4 week mark but thats alot different than an actual workout. My doc said at 6 weeks go ahead but listen to your body.

TruthEdge, It won't be long and you'll be in the Bionic Brotherhood
Question 1. They usually do a stretch test to see how much your dick can pull out away from your body, but the Doc won't know your true size until he does the internal measurements.
Question 2. I was supposed to get the CX since that was my Docs go to implant but they did a game time decision and gave me a LGX. I'm sort of thinking so that I wouldn't lose length. I got the 18cm LGX with 3cm rear tips.
Ive head that the CX is like the Titan, it is a lot stiffer and takes less pumps to get real hard.
Question 3. I got back on my Road Bike at 4 weeks, it was a little awkward with the numbness and some pain in the scrotum but I did some easy miles in the neighborhood. I would say around 6 weeks is when I started doing at least 30 to 40 mile rides and my speed came back quick too. I use a ISM PL 1.1 40 saddle and it works great, I don't have any problems with the other boy down there.
Question 4. I have the old MS pump, but I haven't had any problems with it, inflating or deflating
Question 5. Can't help you there, my Doc was an Army Major at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio
I believe he got out and started his own practice in Del Rio, I believe (Shaun Barney)
Question 6. I had the Penoscrotal and didn't have any problems with riding my road bike.
All of us heal different, so listen to your body and listen to your Doc.
Good Luck,
