They leave you partially inflated because the surgical capsule starts to form right away . They don't want the implant OR the reservoir being restricted by the capsule. That's why the 60% ish inflation. Leave saline in both parts of the implant.

Yes, and that is why some implanters recommend early cycling from full inflation to full deflation. The earlier, the better if the patient can tolerate the discomfort and there are no contraindications (e.g. tunica weakness, difficult stitches, etc)

I can't wait to start cycling. Sounds like the guy that got the implant with the same doc on the same day as me is cycling already, but my scrotum is too swollen to find the deflate area. I want to be sure I can deflate before I inflate lol. Anything I can do besides ice it?

Elevation. You sprain your ankle, you elevate it. Reduces the blood pressure in that area. Of course elevating yous scrotum is not easy, but I stayed horizontal as much as I could and feel I benefitted by that strategy.

And, yes, do not inflate until you are sure you can deflate. Same as driving off-road. Don't drive into a place you are not sure you can drive out of.

If there is anyway to wear your shirt untucked the shirt tails can give you some cover.

Get dress slacks with pleated fronts?

Wear a t-shirt that has large print just above the waist that says, “Hey, my eyes are up here! (Arrow pointing up)

I think these are the best ideas beyond what I got and I think I can get an exception to wear an untucked shirt while this is going on and i'll have to get some of those pleated pants in the mean time.

If questioned I would just say, “I need to leave my shirt untucked for a couple weeks because tucking it hurts my incision.”

While this comment won’t help the young man who originally posted, some of you still-in-the-workforce, might-need-an-implant guys listen up:

Once a year many/most employers have open enrollment where you have to decide which of their insurance plans you are going to take and have deducted from your check.

A really good one to think about is short term disability.

It’s usually pretty cheap.

Plans vary but it’s designed to cover you from like 14-90 days. Kicks in with about 75% of your base pay (again, plans do vary) on the 14th day and will provide you with that % of your paycheck for up to 3 months until your doctor says you’re good to go.

I was an engineer in an oilfield related specialty. What I did was typically not strenuous, if I was short handed or it was a simple little procedure I would take a limited crew with me and help out with some of the heavy lifting.

I couldn’t do that after a hernia repair so I took 3 months off with pay and went back when they cleared me to lift.

I see no reason that an implant wouldn’t be viewed the same way.

And this was really cheap coverage….like less than $5 per paycheck. Of course any insurance is a waste of money until you need it.

It's good advice. If I wasn't stubborn I'd be on short term now but I don't want to lose all my vacation. I've had medical issues my whole adult life and as a result never had a real vacation. I've finally gotten some diagnosis and a major surgery that helped part of my other medical issues so I see this small light where I may be able to have a real vacation, just this once. I'm determined to get an actual vacation this year before I may be going into another surgery so I'm trying to toughen out here and dang it is rough.

If I wasn't stubborn I'd be on short term now but I don't want to lose all my vacation. I've had medical issues my whole adult life and as a result never had a real vacation.

Well, you’re only 28. I took my first real vacation when I was 28.

Sixteen weeks at Fort Benning, GA. All inclusive. Meals, shots, clothing. Lodging, entertainment. They even paid my airfare to/from Atlanta.

But seriously….are you a beach person? If you want a really good beach vacation I would like to recommend Grand Cayman. Ordinarily it can be expensive as hell but if you are willing to think outside the box it is the best beaches, safest environment, and best all-around place I can think of.

My wife & I try to get down there a couple off times a year, for about 8-10 days each time. We’re not collecting aluminum cans for spending money but we are a long ways from being wealthy.

I was in charge of Transportation in the Army for 18 of my 23 years service. I’m notoriously cheap and pretty good at finding cheap ways to get somewhere. Now that you’ve got medical and other issues in the rear view mirror hopefully you’ll get your vacation dreams to fruition. If I can be of help in trying to find cheap ways to get there feel free to message me. I don’t get a commission lol, I’m just a nice guy who can still remember being young on a budget.
