Thanks for your post regarding malleables. I'm considering a Rigicon and in Virginia as well.

I'm getting an IPP in December, but I think I will eventually end up with a malleable, because I won't tolerate too many surgeries. I may even get one on the first revision
One big problem with malleables, though, is the potential for pressure atrophy
11mm rods
This seems to be a good size. I have a feeling most of the problems guys run into are with the 13 mm rods
I wonder if a Tactra with 11mm rods has less spring-back than a Rigicon 10 with 13 mm rods
what problems do patients with 13mm rods have ? i have the tactra with 13mm rods . i had my mind set on the rigi 10 with 14mm rods , but after personally trying out the stiffness of both brands and seeing that the tactra was noticeably stiffer i went with it .
i wish tactra had a 14mm or 15mm rods . but 13 mm is the largest they have .
Concealment isn't a issue . ok say im sitting in the water at the beach , that tends to make it raise up both from the leg position and the buoyancy in the water , when i am going to get out ill push it down next to my leg and its good to go . unless i want to show off a little for the girls . haha . even then its not like your sporting a full fledge woody sticking straight out . more like your a bit of a shower ,not a grower .
regarding girth loss or retention of girth , that seems to depend on how the implant is inserted , with dilators being used as method that destroys the spongy tissue , and i think most countries outside of usa use that method . in usa idk.
using the math formula of 2 different sized diameters , this one being 13 versus 14 .each doubled ,so 26 versus 28 . the 28 mm line has a .40 of a inch more girth if i remember correctly .
on a penis that is a good amount .
so my 13 mm rods have giving me no issues other than loss of girth .
if i had a do over i would go with rigi10 just for the increase of girth .

Ready2go,
Mark1974's claim is supported by the initial research literature on Tactra. If concealability is good for you and meets your expectations, that's excellent news. More power to you!
Initial Experience with the Boston Scientific Tactra Semi-Rigid Penile Prosthesis: A Multi-Institutional Case Series
"On postoperative follow up, some patients with the 11mm and 13mm implants, 55% (6/11), reported difficulty concealing the implant given its decreased bendability. Patients with the 9.5mm rods and some with the 11mm rods reported good flexibility and concealability."
"Three patients (27%) had some “S” deformity, and implant concealability seems to decrease with increased girth size."

Re: Malleables revisited
I think you have done more research than most urologists Last Hope
You make a lot of great contributions to the forum

Born 6/15/74. I have substantial venous leak with fairly severe hour-glassing, but no hard plaques. My urologist is sexual health expert Dr. Laurence Levine who performed a Doppler Ultrasound and diagnosed me with VL in 2020. I also have mild BPH
Re: Malleables revisited
Thank you Mark1974.
It's exciting to know that Boston Scientific is also working on "IT MATTERS" Tactra clinical trial! The clinical outcome data would be very helpful for patients in the future and for BS to refine their product.

yeah i keep hearing from members on here that do not have a malleable that concealment is a problem . and then myself who has one and other members who have them who keep saying . no its not..... then its;but but , some study online said etc etc .
yeah ,ok go with that.

The thing is what might be problematic for some people isn't problematic for others. I work in special education in an elementary school, so I am very sensitive as to what might get noticed, but other guys live in circumstances where they don't have to worry about it so much

Re: Malleables revisited
We are extremely happy that concealment is not a problem for some. However, a curious mind might wonder why 55% of patients reported a problem while the other 45% did not in the clinical trial data. As Mark suggested, different situations call for different experiences. The paper found a correlation with rod diameter. Individual anatomy also plays a huge role. I wish human biology were as simple as believing that something like horny goat weed would work for everyone because it worked for some. We are only searching for answers and not distrusting any individual's personal anecdote. It's not some random mindless study, it's a study by Boston Scientific, and I commend them for being transparent in a study of their own product.
Re: Malleables revisited
"in the clinical trial data" yeah those wonderful copy and paste web sites . they are so informative .
i am over the average size for american men . and a snug pair of briefs will conceal any sign of my privates . at no point during the day is anyone gasping in shock as if I'm walking around with a boner . But the other option is the ipp . just go that route and be done with it . No worries
