Traveling with Trimix

Postby Colorblind » Tue Aug 13, 2024 9:24 pm

How do you travel with Trimix? Is is best to simply bring the vial or preload syringes? In the past I brought the vial. However I’ve read that some prefer to prefill syringes. All suggestions welcomed.

I was wondering the same thing...especially for traveling overseas. I was thinking prefilling a few syringes but how to keep it at cool temperatures during a long flight? And would ice packs in a cooler make it through security?

Bakc when I did use Trimix, I bought a small stainless steen Thermos, and would carry the vials within it with a small ice pack. Would last quite a while especially when packed among clothes in a checked bag.

When I was using Trimix I had a diabetic carry case. It had two ice packs, room for needles and a vial. Vial was sandwiched between the ice packs, lasted a good 10-12 hours frozen.

In terms of flying, I'm assuming this is ok to bring on the plane and get checked? Do you need to notify them before hand or just on the day once you go through security?

Took it in my carry-on bag. Didn't tell them anything, they didn't ask. It's medicine if they ask, and that is all they need to know.

Thanks, it's the ice part that should get me pulled over and I would need to explain it to them, don't want to be embarrassed and they take it from me and i'm left without it on holiday.

I pre-load syringes and put them in an eyeglasses case with miniature ice packs (Old Guy's carry case sounds better). They warm up, but the Trimix works the same after three or four days at room temperature.

I've only taken it on train trips, but if I were flying, I would take the prescription along for nosy officials.
