Flying (traveling) with Trimix

Hey guys...I don't know if this is the right heading for this post/question....How do some of you guys travel by plane with this stuff??...planning a trip to Florida for weekend...and want to bring my "stuff"...will they let you on the plane with a needle?....I don't want to check luggage..but would like to carry on a small soft cooler with the Trimix on ice...any suggestions?

Hi qcswral - I have traveled to the Philippines now 3 times with my trimix and have had no problems at all. I would bring all your trimix stuff (medication and needles) in your carry-on and have your prescriptions with you. I use a little cooler pack for my trimix to keep it cool for the long trip...here is a link that talks about one of my trips...

Any kind of a cooler pack will work for a short trip, mine is larger because I needed it to stay cool for almost 24 hrs. I have even used ice with no problem and if they ask at TSA you just tell them you have a prescription medication that needs to stay cool.

Thanks for the feedback....I will do as you suggest......I don't have a prescription though, my Doc fills the meds out of his office...but he does have the dose, name of med, my name on the vial...which I believe suffices for a prescription....(Has his name too)

That scipt info is all you need. Remember, there are millions of diabetics doing the same thing...it is nothing unusual. You can be sure on just about every flight there is bound to be someone with syringes, etc.

I would suggest going to drug store and getting insulin travel kit...or online. They are hard plastic case with an ice pack.

Remember, it just needs to be cool...don't stress too much if it is not 38 degrees for a couple hours. You would have to leave the trimix out at room temperature for a couple days to notice a change. the trimix will not go bad, it will just weaken...so, while you may end up with less effective medication, it will not hurt you. I have done this and it worked successfully. I use a small thermos, place your small bottle of trimix in a somewhat larger plastic bottle sufficiently small to fit within the neck of the thermos and then place small pieces of ice within the thermos. This will keep the trimix cold for about 12 hours.

Hi,
I am new on the site but have been reading the posts for a while now. Thought it was time to jump in. So hello. I appreciate all the information on this site.
I have been reading about this dry "TriMix for Travel" which comes in a dry powder form and you add sterilized water just before use. The ad says it does not have to be refrigerated which makes it much easier for travel. Has anyone used it? Anyone have any feedback?

I put mine in a thermos,last for two or three days,just replace the crushed ice. Don't you cube ice it does not last as long.
